Oh man. I ordered a -30°F sleeping bag for sleeping in my truck when it's cold. One review said the guy got teased by everybody at deer camp because of how big and heavy it was. I figured his friends were just picking on him. They were not. This thing literally comes in its own giant duffel bag. It better be warm

I was reading reviews on sleeping bags and their ratings. One person wrote that the ratings is not what keeps you warm but what keeps you alive.

Sleeping bag ratings are not standardized. It’s very confusing and even though they are starting to come up with standardized tests it’s still the Wild West of temperature rating advertisement.

That being said -30F is a bit overkill unless future plans include going to the arctic circle. My lowest rating backpacking quilt is rated +10F and most times is enough to make me sweat. Sleeping in the back of ye olde Taco I use a +50F bag and a Walmart $10 comforter. I don’t know how cold it was exactly during our February trip but it was probably close to zero and I was warm(ish).

    Weather, you say?

Yup. Add a blanket, adds 20 degrees of tolerance to any bag.

See that tree line in the background? Turn your phone so that's level. That's how far over he was.

Anyone an expert in the 2nd gen 4WD system? @pearing was messaging me saying his 4x4 isn't engaging over the pass in Colorado I think. Turns the switch on but no lights on the dash and not engaging. I said to check the fuse and check that the shop who repaired his diff didn't leave the 4WD ECU disconnected, and shared a link & PDF to some megathreads on TW. Maybe message him if you have any ideas so he doesn't have to ride the mountain bike all the way home!

Work was canceled again today because of weather and this time it was justified. Of course they waited way too damn long to cancel. I already made it to the work parking lot where there was a stuck semi blocking the entrance and my coworkers were the ones that told me it was canceled. I think this is the worst I've ever seen the town roads in my 27 years of living here. I would like one order of spring now please. I don't know how all of you guys were affected but it was snowmageddon here.

Well this just goes to show how much snow we got. I got stuck in the city on a side road. First time I've been stuck during winter in a long time and in the city no less. Believe it or not, crawl control (with a bunch of shoveling) got me out.

He's in Rhinelander. Weather is a different animal north of Hwy 29 and changes again around Hwy 8.

We got less than 1/2" and it's already half gone. Good, because I am hoping to weld up my bed platform tomorrow and get a good start on my slider kit. Maybe even get my tank skid mounted.
