Can 1995-1997 Gauge Clusters be Reprogrammed V6 vs I4?

    I have read that late 1997-2000 clusters with tachometer can be reprogrammed to read properly when swapped between a V6 and I4 truck.

    Is the same true for 1995-early 1997 clusters?

    I doubt it but don't quote me on this. Early gen are cable driven and later are electronic.

    Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
    There is a way to do this my hands on was a engine swap into 87 pick up(22Re) going to a 3.4. I needed to add a resistor

    On my 2000 the 3.4 tack signal comes from the igniter the 4 Cylinder comes from The ECM

    Supercharged, AEM FIC/6, Meth Inj, ION Alloy's, Radio & Phone steering Wheel controls,Fabtech AAL, Billie's wrapped with 880's , Tundra big brake conversion, bully bars and Pioneer DDin Stereo/dvd with exterrnal usb ports. 290K and going strong.
    95-97 Tachs I don't and haven't ever reprogrammed. You would need to find a v6 tach.
