Your not missing anything. I'm just curious to see if my understanding of how the interlock works is correct. The only benefit, and not sure it really is worth the cost, would be the shifters would only move forward and back, and not side to side like with the JShift pattern, therefore perhaps would fit better in the pencil tray, which is long and narrow.

Mines in the pencil tray. For me 2L is nice so I can stay in low all day on the trail and be in and out of 4wd when needed. We run trails with all level trucks/drivers so sometimes it’s a crawl that I can be in 2wd for while the stock truck is working their way and learning how to drive. Prior to it was also stop, neutral and going from 2hi and 4lo. And 2hi was too much too.
And the pic of how it all looks.

Got quoted 20-25 hours for this mod so its looking like DIY if I want this done. The quote was probably for a v6 3rd gen since I didnt get to telling him I have a r156f. Ill read this thread again but i do believe its a direct swap for me.

I can confirm your Auto part time case will bolt up behind your R156F. I used the guts from an auto case to use in my crawl box so it would bolt up to my R156F.

Cool thanks for the confirmation. What crawl box are you running? You’re on a awd case now?

That is a NWF EcoCrawler. Install should be in the next few weeks finally. And yes this is a VF4B AWD case out of a 6 speed FJ cruiser

I am running the same case in my 6 speed Tacoma and it has been fantastic

Does anyone know what shifter this is? Looking for a proper boot. All the boots I’ve found seem to be for a sticks closer together.

Hope someone either has one laying around or can point me to one. Didn’t realize I needed a harness from the frame side to the actuator. I sold mine with the front diff :annoyed:

You’re the greatest person alive. That had me so worried. I couldn’t find one anywhere online. Charge me what you want. I’ll send a PM

Just cover shipping and it’s yours. It’s been sitting on the shelf for months, im glad to see it get put to use. I just need to find some time to get it shipped. I am slammed right now with the tax deadline. Might be early next week before I can ship it out.

I had another concern about this. Does the electronic brake booster rely on speed input to determine the amount to increase pressure? I won’t have any wheel sensors or speedo so I’m not sure how the brake booster will react without that information. Or is it simply a direct correlation of me pushing the brake pedal more increases the pressure the booster makes?

To my knowledge there is no speed input use for the amount of pressure. For the ABS/TRAC/ATRAC portion of the system this will not function without 4 individual wheel sensors. When you swapped your case, did you put a speed sensor in the rear of the case? Most of the 6 speeds came with this from the factory but the autocraptics relied upon the speed sensors for each wheel to determine vehicle speed. A very common addition to the FJ case swap is to add a VSS to the rear of the case when doing a SAC or changing the rear axle to something that doesn't have the OEM speed sensor support.

there is a pressure transducer that is part of the booster. pretty sure it monitors everything and the pump and accumulator just keeps everything at one pressure

I’m keeping the stock case and wiring the front actuator back up and just having it act like it’s working so it’ll shift into 4wd.

Didn’t know if the booster looked to say “hey he’s hit the brakes but he’s still maintaining 90 mph so let me ramp the pump up” or ever how that translates to real life haha

Do you have a slushbox or the RA60F? I mean by now if you've already changed out at least one axle you'd have been missing your speed sensor input, but looking briefly through your build I'd be adding the t-case VSS so you at least have a working speedometer.

I’ve got an automatic. It doesn’t bother me to not have a speedo or odometer unless it will effect the performance of another system.
