Can’t start.

1999 Tacoma. Parcked it at night no power in morning. Put trickle charger on it went to work. Door dinging until I turned the key the nothing since. Nothing when trying to jump it. It is a manual. Pleas help.

 

Have you tried a set of jumper cables?

 

How old is the battery? May not be able to hold a charge.

 

What’s the outside temperature?

 

The battery is month old. Even with jumper cables no response. I pulled battery charged it put it back. The dash lights showed and door dinged until I turned key then silence. Terminals r clean also

Okay. I would check the positive battery cable. This is the cable from the battery to the starter motor. Or. Check for corrosion on the battery terminals and cable.

I would focus more on making sure the battery has a good ground

 

Do you have a volt meter? What is the battery voltage after charging it overnight? Should be 12.5-13 volts. Then, what is the voltage at the terminals after trying to start it?

I know you said it's a new battery but it behaves just like a bad battery.

April fools. It's happening site wide.

 

I pulled both ground cables cleaned connection spots with wire brush. Pulled apart terminal connector put all back together and it starts. Thanks everyone for the ideas.

 

Battery cables have been a known issue with Tacomas.

 

In my experience most times it ends up being the ground that’s the problem
