I think he's talking about wheel spacers? Otherwise there isn't even remotely enough info.

Are you saying wider wheels? IF your wheel diameter stayed the same, and your tires are the same the only thing left is wheel width (when you say "bigger").

If thats the case, all of that leverage on the suspension paired with whatever ebay lift you have means its going to ride like trash.

No I homier the wheel size also changed .
Original tires were 215/75/15 to 245/75/16

Well I doubt an inch will make much of a difference (phrasing), 245/75 is a pretty common size on tacomas. Probably the lift and spacers, and potentially, if you figure it out, the load range of the tires.

If there is a letter in front of the 245 you have C,D, or E rated tires. For example E245/75/16 is E rated tires. No letter, or the P (for passenger tire), or SL for (standard load) means you have light duty tires.

E rated tires are designed for heavy duty 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. Will ride like a brick on a Tacoma.

Basics. Tires, painted headlighes, UHLM, baby winch in the bed, and heated mirrors :)
Can confirm. I like my E-load grabbers for the piece of mind of being able to run over basically anything and not blow a tire. But yes, they ride like steel-reinforced cinderblocks, especially at the recommended 45psi

So let me get this straight; you had a truck and when you swapped a bunch of different parts onto it, you were surprised when it rode differently.

    Sounds inexplicable to me, lol!

Ok then, so maybe try putting either the old tires or the old suspension back to how it was, and see if that fixes the ‘problem’.

When you discover your spacer lift is responsible for compressing half your suspension travel at ride height, you will know why it is riding like it’s has lost half the suspension travel that used to be available for soaking up those bumps and potholes. (hint: it has)
    Or….
You may find it was your tires that were so heavy duty, they ended up making your truck feel like it’s on skateboard wheels. (hint: they will)*
    *assumes tires were inflated correctly

In short, 1) ditch the spacer pick lift and replace with an actual suspension lift kit.
Then 2) evaluate if your driving needs actually call for heavy duty tires. (Are you going off road a lot, are you getting a lot of flats, etc.)

Oh, and one other thing about the braking and accelerating issue…
It relates to your suspension because a big part of the job of your suspension is to help keep the tires in contact with the ground.
Braking and accelerating require contact with the pavement and when your wheels are bouncing around on bumps and potholes, they will not be available for braking and accelerating. Hence, the poor performance under those conditions.

Finally, know that TW is a bountiful treasure trove of information, and the answers to most of your questions are here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/wheels-tires.15/

While all your points are accurate, a challenge here is that the truck is a 5 lug, so the component market is much smaller for what he wants to do.

So it's even easier to make a mess of.

Hmmm, good point. Saw that, but failed to see the implications.
So, maybe step 1 is sell the 5-lugger…

I love mine. While I have improved mine, I've also not tried to make it into something it isn't.

But IMHO if one wants something like a PreRunner, buy a PreRunner. 5 lugs are less desirable to many, but they are also less expensive. Can't afford a PreRunner? Maintain the 5 lug well, save your sheckles to buy a PreRunner.

Very different underpinnings than the 6 lugs. Same 2.7 engine, trans, body, etc, but simpler suspension and smaller brakes.

Could be. Or accept it for what it is. A great light duty utility truck.
