Hey all. Weird question - I've got a 6MT (so non-keyless), and noticed if I leave a window down and lock the doors with the FOB (I can see the blinking red light inside indicating its locked), I can press the unlock button and it will unlock all the doors. My friend's Mazda does not allow this.

The reason I care, is that I installed the OEM automatic tailgate lock, and I have a diamondback. The security of the bed is compromised by the fact that someone can just break a window, hit unlock, and now they're in my bed.

Is there any way to rectify this? Maybe something I can do in Techstream?

I wouldn't worry too much, the tailgate lock can be bypassed very easy. Bullet proof glass without the motors would be an option for the interior security.:burp:

Disconnect the power lock and use the keys to open it.

Did you let it sit a minute and try? Most disable the lock switches once the BCM goes to sleep. Can’t remember if that’s how the Tacoma is or not. Usually it’s about 45 seconds but could take up to a minute and a half, on most vehicles.

If someone broke your window, you’ll probably have bigger issues like a missing truck

Depending on where you live it might be better to just leave your windows down so the less fortunate can easily take your stuff. They obviously need it more than you. Everyone is so insensitive on here, I think we all need to check our Tacoma privilege.

if you live somewhere you have to leave your window down in fear someone will break it, its probably time to move

Thanks - I thought I had previously waited until the blinking light, but this time I gave it a solid 5 minutes to be sure.

After a couple minutes, it appears the unlock button becomes disabled!

I never thought I'd be giddily QA testing my car locks on a Sunday morning but here we are.
