I set out to install a new Double Din stereo myself this morning. As a kid had installed many.
With the help of Google I searched out the wiring diagram printed it off and set out.

My harnesses did not match up to many of the colors every website gave me.

Ive enclosed a picture of my harnesses. In a non bizzaro world the harness on the left would be the power/ grnd and constant. The harness on the right would be speakers.

However just plugging the harness on the right in, the radio fires up and has sound, without the left harness being plugged in at all.

    What gives with that?

I am ordering a plug and play harness off of Amazon today but really would like to know why my wires differ from anything i have found online and how it is functioning just plugged into the 10 pin harness

    Thanks

A little context would help. Do you have a 6-disc changer and steering wheel controls?

The small plug has left rear and right rear speaker wires on it. The larger plug has the power connections.

You have to keep in mind that factory wiring color codes don’t reconcile with aftermarket ones. What matters is that you are using the correct pin out on each gender.

Here is a picture of that adapter harness.

Here is what would plug into the factory radio with aftermarket colors.

    It’s from a T-Harness I made a while back.
