It was close. No damage. Got scratches from the local desert brush.

It was your wheel offset that saved you. If they didn't have some poke it would have been laying on the sheet metal.

I'll have to add wheel offset to my list of upgrades I need before Moabing around.

Now you have a reason to go back. Don't let the gate beat you!

@Stoney Ranger has any of those ladies that took video at Hells Gate emailed you?

I bought a Baofeng UV-9G handheld. Under $50 and waterproof.

FRS and GMRS share a bunch of channels. The difference in radios being the power output is higher for the GMRS.

There is a guy on a website called Tacswap.com that sells baofeng radios and also programs them for the area that you live, for a fee. Here is a description of what he does, it also lists his number. Says he does bulk pricing so if a few of us are interested, we can see what he can do for us. The prices he has listed ($90-$130) depend on the package ie: extra batteries, chargers, and so on.

I program this radio to your needs picking up your local repeaters, Police, fire, and all recorded frequencies for YOUR area according to your needs. You have 127 options of channels to have preprogrammed, NOAA Weather, Marine Channels, US\CA Railroad Channels, General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) (Includes FRS), 2M\70CM HAM call freqs, and US MURS channels allow you to listen to whatever is going on in your area. Custom prepping frequencies, communication plans, and common prepping\disaster frequencies can be added. Simply purchase the product and send me your address and zip codes that you want it programmed for. I can do bulk pricing and offer generous customer service. Want more information? Contact me 9105276810 and feel free to send me a message and your number and I will contact you shortly.

Some frs and gmrs channels overlap (gmrs can send / receive on frs but frs can’t do gmrs ones). You get more power, range and channels with gmrs and need a license as a result

That's what I'm here for, the mods and the gear.
Just purchased this one recently. I only see myself using while out with the group ~3-4x a year. Removable from mounted bracket, bought a magnetic mount for the stub antenna.

Ended up sticking with Baofeng too. I like the convenience of USB-C. I don't see myself using the GMRS versions for anything long range that my UV-5R can already handle. Definitely falling into the repeater rabbit hole too. There's a company out west that makes them in Pelican cases. Mojave Repeaters, worth a look.
