I'm relatively new here. I've been lurking for a while but couldn't find the answer to a question I've been having so I decided to make a post about it. I'm looking to replace the JBL System completely in my 2023 Tacoma. I plan on purchasing a new Sony Unit from Trail Grid Pro (either the XAV-9500ES or the XAV-AX6000). I also purchased a sub box, a sub, and an amp for the sub. I also plan to get an amp for the speakers of the truck. The question I have is when running new wiring for all of the speakers, how exactly do the dash speakers connect to the rest of the system? To me it looks like it is a separate channel connected to the amp. In this case, would I need to find a 6-channel amp or would a 4-channel work with some minor modifications? If 4-channel is fine, how would I go about wiring the dash speakers either into the amp or into the front door speakers? Any help with this is appreciated.

Get component speakers and run wires to the dash for HF from the crossover mounted near the amplifier. Run another set of wires to the door for LF from the crossover. This way you can power the system (sans sub) with a 4 channel amplifier and you have the wires in place in case you decide to go active later.

If you want to use the factory speaker wiring, you’ll need the adapter harness for a JBL system amplifier output and you can connect those wires to your crossovers.
