So going to be doing some off roading out west nothing insane but did want to ask would snow chains be a good thing to have just in case ?
I do not have off road tires and Taco is 2wd only so looking for something that could help out of a bind not a huge off roading but do go occasionally.

Chains are good in snow, ice and mud. No so much for sand. Airing down may be your best bet. Posi or locker also

a friend with a winch, or 4wd and a strap... but chains will only cause trouble you're not in swamp mud or crawling over logs. now depending on where west you could find snow still.

PS. and not dogging on the 2wd thing, ive been places in a FWD no FWD should have ever even gotten to, and at one point drove a Geo storm convertible down a ATV/UTV trail.

^^^^ Five minutes of airing down / airing up got me out. Didn't even have to break out traction aids.

Make your life easier. Get yourself some decent all-terrain tires and at the very least, an air compressor.

Washington is one of the few that I haven't road-tripped to. Yet.:cookiemonster: Those photos are a mixed bag of Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, and South Dakota.

I occasionally carry a set of cheap traction boards. They don't live in the truck full time.

I aired down to 25 psi in the photo above. In other places, I've aired down to 20 psi. A cigarette lighter compressor works in a pinch, I've used one for years. Just be aware that it gets hot when airing up four tires without a break. I recently switched mine out to the 88p. It is still light duty for occasional use (and I like that it packs away into a small space), but it feels safer.

    Just some stuff...
I've used the 88p for years. It does get hot though. Not sure I would still be using it if I had larger tires though.

Currently i have a tiny harbor freight compressor but it seems to take long time to blow up a tire even 5 psi higher i think it would work but would take a long time.
Believe its made more for basketballs or bicycles.

Pretty sure i need a better one than this.

Removed some stuff, added some stuff.
I have 265/70/17 on my truck, I recently airs down to ~15psi for a long off road trip, pulled over when I was back on asphalt and aired up to 32 psi with a cheap “slime” brand air compressor. Took some time but we weren’t in a hurry. It also packs away in the storage box built into the side of the bed. It’s not ideal, but for ~$25 at Walmart, it works in a pinch.

The 88p should be perfect for you. Been using it for years and it's under $100

How long does it take you to blow up one tire from 20 psi to 30 psi roughly?

    I'd say about 3 minutes, maybe 4

I have an 84P, which is a bit less CFM and max pressure. I've timed it at under 20 minutes for all 4 tires going from 15 to 40 PSI.

    Tires are LT245/75/R16 E-LOAD.

Yes, the thing is hot enough to cause burns by the end of this. Don't ask me how I know...

But it's within the run specs. I may upgrade this for slightly less time spent out in the rain.

Dumb question i dont find what 88P or 84P means it doesnt seem to correspond to the max pressure because the 88P is 120 psi max i think.
So what are 84P or 88P just the model numbers ?

I don't think a $10.00 air compressor is going to do the job.

I think it could... just may take forever. Would likely burn itself up before all the tires were to pressure though.
