    Hello Friends,
I recently completed a road trip from Grand Rapids, MI to Grand Junction, CO and back. First road trip in the new Tacoma. Here are a few tidbits.
    - Truck ran great
    - Found adaptive cruise control to be pretty cool
    - Used S mode for mountain passes, prolonged uphill driving and steep descents
    - Trip was roughly I80-I76-I70 as for highways
    - Crossed Rockies
-Truck loaded with gear, bikes, skis, tools, 2 dogs maybe 450lbs total
    - Was about 1400 miles each way
    - Total trip was about 3900 miles
-Trip computer thingy in truck said 22.2 MPG for the trip (3900 miles)
    - Truck is stock, with topper, bikes on back hitch rack
    - v6

Is 22.2 MPG good, bad, average? Just curious

That's probably about average for a 3rd gen, but I'd double check that with hand calculations. In my experience the onboard calculations are usually optimistic. My 07 Tacoma doesn't have that technology so everything was hand calculated. My F150 is pretty accurate, never off by more than 1/2 mpg compared to hand calculations. But I've seen some that were 2-4 mpg optimistic. It's pretty rare to see hand calculations be better than the computer, but I've seen it by .2 to .3 mpg a few times.

I've done similar trips over the years. I've gotten as much as 20 when I wasn't in a hurry, 18.5-19 when I was pressed for time. Which I think is good for a 2nd gen. I got 22-23 on a couple of tanks during perfect driving conditions.

And at .60 more per gallon you’d need to get 27mpg to break even.

I'm at 22-23 for normal driving (mainly 60ish to and fro work). CC set tunes up.

That seems pretty good to me. I think for my normal driving the mpg is around 20. More city than highway.

Sounds pretty good to me. My 2500hd averages 12mpg empty and without trailer. The 91 octane might help but at a $.30 premium per liter here, you aren't going to see enough of an increase to make it worthwhile.

Nice. I’m in the middle of my first road trip with my new TRD OR from Colorado to OK, TX. 1000 miles in and great so far and just after I got my tune.

I just got back from a round trip to Portland (Portland Swapmeet) from Vancouver Island. Mixed rural highways (101, 539, TransCanada) and Interstate (I5) and some heavy traffic (Portland, Tacoma, Seattle, Vancouver) and I got 27 MPG Imperial which is about 22.4 MPG US gal. So pretty close. My truck is 100% stock (V6, auto, SR5 trim, 4wd).
