I just ordered some new Rynoskin !

 

Saw a couple turkeys breeding already yesterday morning.

 

i did buy a license this year. CA. i have really tempered my hunting thing over the past few years.

i promised to take a rookie to get his first bird. this would be year 3..the first two were tough and we had to work a lot.

we got it done and he got a GREAT FIRST bird. a whopper. total mature Tom. what was surprising to me was how much i enjoyed the experience. i never picked up my shotgun and only called for him. it was an eternity before the bird presented a shot. when the bird toppled over, the adrenaline dump into my system was EXACTLY as if i was the one pulling the trigger. i basically lost my shit. it was so fun!!!

we tried a few hours longer and then he bought me breakfast. best day ever...well, best day in a long time.

 

I took one of the bosses at works son's out on Saturday. It dumped between 2 and 4 inches of snow during the drive to the spot. The birds were really quite we got one gobble. I was frustrated and I'm not sure if him and his dad would have been any happier if we would have gotten a bird. So that was a good reality check for me. I promised to get them back out if they don't harvest a bird this week while I'm at work.

Today in front of the mother in laws house 19 Tom's in all but they put on a show for 45 minutes then charged down the street to confront another group of 7 or 8 Tom's

Outside my bedroom window 1.5hrs ago. Usually about 20 of them. Think maybe the coyotes scattered them last night just as they were getting ready to roost for night since I heard both down front.

 

Other side of the state this week.

 

Got to hunt with my son this eve, home from college.

 

I’ve gotten skunked this year, been hunting my buddies ranch and I know they are there they have just been silent this year. I’m the only one who’s been there so they haven’t been pressured at all, but damn are they weary.
