The snot that my catch can collects is worth it. Many people dispute that they're necessary, everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you installed one and saw the collected material, you would never remove the equipment. I have added them to all my personal vehicles. I don't want that moisture/ vapor / sludge dumped into my intake/ runners/ combustion chamber. Warmer climates my not see much benefit, but in Ohio, I collect 8 oz of fluid/ month in the winter. 2 oz every 3 months in summer.

i know they work owned a g35 that ate a motor from the EGR system being trash and sucking oil from the block and would literally burn the rings off the pistons. my grand mother had a Nissan Murano she "purchased" from the family business. at the end of its time, and a couple years later took it to Nissan because it was running rough. They told her it needed an engine and wouldn't you know I had a spare and put it in Grandmas car. installed a catch can on it after that and would often dump oil from it when id visit. when grandma sold that it still ran great.

That’s an impressive amount of miles, OP. If you haven’t buttoned it back up yet, take the time to check valve clearances. And look at your chain tensioners.

intake manifold studs are a lot less hateful than exhaust manifold studs

That doesn't look bad at all for 500K miles....I've seen a lot worse with less than 100K

Was all put back together after the pics were taken. I knew it would be nice to check the valve clearance but I was in no position to do all that. Chains still seem tight from what I could tell. Honestly, to me, it still runs as well as the day I drove it home from the dealer.

Really impressive mileage. I have 299,543 at the moment and will soon hit 300k. Is your trans still original too?

Yes, original auto and I’ve never had any of the problems others talk about. Gets a machine flush of all the trans fluid every 100K.
