I have an 85 quart Wynter portable refrigerator and need confirmation on keeping it powered up full time. (Going to night in motel and don't want to run a cord out to it. This would apply to you camping guys as well.

    120v consumption: 0.8amp
    12v consumption: 4.5amp

The refrigerator will run with both 120v and 12v always plugged in, giving priority to the 120v circuit.

The Tacoma bed outlet supplies 120v/400w (3.33amp)

So, can I put a multiplug on the Tacoma outlet and run two parallel circuits:
    1) 120v directly to the refrigerator and,
    2) 120v to a 4.3a charger to a 12v battery to the refrigerator.

    The charger is a CTEK MUS 4.3 that takes 120v @ 1.1amp.

The total consumption of the parallel rig should then be 0.8 + 1.1 = 1.9.

This parallel rig should run the refrigerator and charge the battery while driving. Then the battery will run the refrigerator when the Tacoma is shut off and the battery takes over running the refrigerator.

Sounds ok for a cheap solution.

Give it a go and report back.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Bed outlet only works when you're driving, unless you've done the anytime 400w mod. Otherwise, you'll only see 100w output.

On a recent trip to Moab Utah a got a Iceco 45 qt refrigerator. I powered it using a Bluetti power station. Worked great. Also used it to overnight charge cellphones.
Before the trip a did a few test. Plugging in the refrigerator in the AC it ran for 16 hours and Bluetti still had 40% battery left. Running the refrigerator on DC it ran 18 hours and the Bluetti still had 60% battery left.

The Wynter fridge was too tall to fit under my bed cover so went with a neighbor's solid state cooler instead. I think the battery crapped out the 3rd day so switched over to a bag of ice. While driving the power outlet apparently defaults to 100w and that didn't seem to be enough to keep the battery charged. How come Toyota limits the outlet to 100w, what's the downside of modifying to get 400w (and how do you do it?)
