ATF temps with modern synthetic fluid

    Was considering adding an atf cooler to my 2020 but I’ve been doing the google thing and asking a mechanic. I’ve come to the conclusion that the picture of that ATF temp chart is not valid with modern synthetic fluid which can handle up to 250f for short periods without damaging anything. Thus the decision to eliminate the stock auxiliary cooler makes more sense.

    They didn't eliminate it. They just combined it with the radiator instead of being a separate component.

    I’m sure it’s combined with the radiator as well in all 3rd gens. Most automatics have been for decades.

    They always had that. The only change was ditching the aux, which is why people question the decision.

    My 2020 access cab came with the external atf cooler.

    They stopped installing it on trucks built after March 2020 I think
