Looks like there is now a 2nd generation Bush Winch. Plastic, instead of aluminum. More accessories. I'm REALLY curious about this device, but I'm worried about running over the rope in an off-axis pull or, more likely, rocky terrain causing the wheel to turn and jump onto the rope. The price is not bad: $500 for the full kit for a Tacoma. Tempting. I wish we had folks here with experience.

I think the price keeps people away too. $500 for the kit you could just buy a smittybilt winch instead and call it a day.

Thing is, though, after you splash $500 on a winch, you still have to get it installed. That probably means a bumper, or at least some kind of mod? I haven't ever had a winch mounted, so I can't speak VERY intelligently about the extra costs involved, but they seem not-insignificant from way back here. Not to mention all the necessary accessories.... The necessories?

I'm sure I would get that thing wrapped around my front suspension and do a ton of damage on the first or second use. I should go research "Smittybilt vs. Badland."

Any luck so far? It honestly seems pretty appealing for someone that doesn't want the weight/cost of a winch for the maybe 1/time a year you'd use it. For those who plan on being winched a lot, just get a winch.

They recommend installing it before you go through a bog cuz yeah good luck otherwise.

I did reach out some time ago, and they were going to send me a T&E sample, but it never happened.
