If that is all you asked then why are there SO many more words and yet none of them ask that question...

As to what is now your question, TW has a vender section and I assume they pay for that opportunity. I think TW has a perfect balance and I thank them for that, but they can still be supported by advertisers without putting ads in your face on every post.

Yes, I asked "since when?" And your answer is "I assume vendors pay to push ads". My question still stands, since when?

To answer my own question, TW makes it very clear that vendors do not pay for their vendor status.

Oh, so "very clear" isn't like actual announcements in the vendor sections, in the buy/sell forum, etc. I guess "very clear" and "all over the forum" means you have to happen to be part of a specific discussion and happen to catch that one comment in a 100 page discussion as you go by.

Stow the condescending attitude. Sure, you found a comment, good on you. You win, I couldn't find it when looking for official announcements, searching for rules and regs, looking for vendor info pages, looking for "how to become a vendor", etc. Take your victory if that's what you need.

You should have proved me wrong on being an arsehole for no reason though...

If you leave your feelings at the door, you'll have a lot more enjoyable time around the internet:thumbsup: The point stands, if you involve yourself in the TW community, the culture of the site will become pretty evident. The site is unlike any other in that they don't force ads down your throat, they don't allow vendors to buy their way in, and the replies to threads can normally be vetted by a community of members to support (or not support) a trusted vendor. I apologize that you took offense to me asking another member when TW became an ad supporter; if you turned my question (to another member) into an opportunity for us "to be in an argument" for some reason, maybe put me on your "ignore" list. I came to answer OP's question about suspension.

    Work in progress...
You will need to add a block or AAL for lift in the rear. The rear shock do not provide any lift. The 6112's come with the 600lb springs and those are the springs you want if you don't have an after market front bumper/winch set up. Also, for me, it was well worth paying 100 bucks to have the shocks and springs preassembled with new top hats and hardware. If you are having someone do the install and they don't need them preassembled or your good with assembling then even better.

Don't try and rationalize your actions, you acted like an ass and deserve to be called on it. You can gaslight it all you want.

B.s, you didn't come to answer his question. If you did your post would be about an answer and not 90% bitching.

I didn't take offense to anything, again save your gaslighting, you acted like an ass and I'm pointing it out. You ARE the reason this is the culture of the site.

Lets talk trucks, because you getting offended at my reply to OP is beyond the purpose of the thread. If you interpreted the answer to OP I gave as bitching, again, thats on you. Either OP did too, and chose not to reply (if you guys are in the same boat, he chose the smarter route), or he took it as intended (this guy wants to save me $4k+ dollars, I'll go research some, because anyone willing to help should actually be asking ME questions, not just throwing out recommendations for what they bought, just because).

@Bdavison I'll reiterate what I've already said; you can gladly listen to people who will throw out product recommendations to you, based ONLY on the fact that its the product they chose to go with (probably at the recommendation of someone else who is also clueless), or you can listen to the assholes like me who encourage you to broaden your understanding of suspension components altogether before making a decision. You can easily spend $5k+ on parts alone, and potentially make your truck much worse. Every truck is different, and needs to be treated as such. Just look through the BST threads on here; its full of extremely high end used suspension parts, because people bought into a recommendation with no understanding of what they were getting. I'd be weary of anyone that gives you a recommendation without asking you a single question first. For example, what terrain dictates "off-road" for your usage case, what is your budget, do you know what other parts are also needed, are those parts included in your budget, how much added weight do you have on your truck, do you intend to tow, are you more willing to make compromise in off road performance or on road comfortability, do you intend to install yourself, is that budgeted, etc. Suspension is an endless rabbit hole, and involves so many other components/factors. Are you happy with stock performance on and off road? Have you ever tried your truck off road before? I'll put it to you bluntly; you can go with any of the recommendations in the thread, and likely be happy; or you can be completely blind sided because someone told you to get a certain coilover and leaf spring setup that may not be suitable for your trucks weight (making it extremely stiff), didn't budget for aftermarket UCA's to fix the needed caster adjustment and now you rub like crazy with your larger tires, chose the wrong UCA altogether to accomplish that goal, didn't understand the differences in spring weights, UCA ball joint types, the added maintenance, potential need for extended brake lines, wrong shock length, didn't know about bump stops, the list goes on. I encourage you to research like crazy if you value your money or value the comfortability of you truck. You might be surprised how much a $100 hockey puck spacer lift would satisfy your every desire. And I'm no advocate for spacer/block lifts; the point being, none of us can tell you what you need if we don't ask the countless unanswered questions no one is willing to ask. Its why I say go research, come back, and ask more technical questions. Til then, we're really just guessing under the guise of being helpful and nice to you.

Lol, there again you try and gaslight it.

I'm not offended, Im not keeping quiet when folks act like dicks for no reason and build, and then defend, that culture You can claim what you want but you yourself said it is the culture around here, and YOU are part of the problem.

The irony is you try and say "let's talk about trucks" , yet you didn't start doing that until you were called out but now that you have been you are trying to change the narrative. The irony is your first post wasn't even to op and all you said was "go look it up yourself"

If you want to talk trucks then maybe you should have tried to do that from the get go and not just use this thread as another soapbox to bitch at others over.

The irony is the op called it from the get go.

And no, I'm not engaging you in technical discussion. If my neighbor continuously takes a dump in the city park I'm not going to go have a cup of coffee with him. You have a reputation here and it's not for your technical knowledge or helpfulness

Here’s my two pesos worth. If not heading off-road that much why not put all that $$$ towards something else. I’m still stock with armor and better tires and all though I may get where everyone else is going at the end of the day a little later I’m still there. I only have an SR5 but I’ve rung it out and it’s a lot more capable than what most people give it credit for.
I put my money into armor and getting a locker later this spring from east coast gear supply. I’m close enough for a small road trip.
Again just my experiences and point of view. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Good luck with making the decisions. That’s the hard part.

Bilstein 5100’s with ome 881 coils on lowest setting, JBA upper control arms, LCE header, 31x10.5x15 falken wildpeaks.
keep your 4600’s and get the westcott designs lift kit made for the 4600’s and then add a leaf in rear and 5100’s in rear. Probably be around $600-700 if you install yourself and depending on what add a leaf you get.

sheesh… this whole thread sure went sideways. Anyway, appreciate you trying to shed light on the workings of TW. It wasn’t really important to my point, but now that you pointed it out, there are indeed no display ads. I honestly don’t care how they generate revenue, be it through paid sponsorships, display ads, affiliate links, etc. Bottom line, I enjoy the forum and the wealth of information, as well as the good natured fun. Some of the more toxic posts I could do without, but I never seen a forum without some of it. I doubt some of the people posting nasty crap online would have the balls to say the same things in person.

anyway, thought I’d chime just this one time since your whole back and forth was sparked by your reply to my post.

    Cheers

I have an 18 Sport DCSB. I ran a spacer/block lift for 3 years and I just swapped to 5100/887 front coil overs and 5100 rear with the HS AAL. I left the tapered shims in place when I installed the AAL. I also have a front diff drop kit and carrier bearing drop kit installed. Much better ride and similar to you, I'm 100% on-road. No vibrations at all. I installed everything myself for under $900. Do yourself a favor and buy assembled coil overs for a quick swap out. I picked up an ECGS bearing but I still need to install for preventative measure.
