I've got inlaws in town, plus I just finished my "rainy day" Mini Cooper about a month ago, so I likely won't start the Landy for quite some time. I was just dead set on not missing out on this one. What VIP gifts did you get?

I got some work on on it tonight. Didn't get far. Just the recovery gear.

I got the Easter Basket and the silly pack of random pastel pieces. Also redeemed a few points for the blue man key chain!

    AT-AT progress:

    Holy hell.......
This thing is SO huge. It's honestly kind of baffling how monstrous and ultimately heavy this thing will be.
The head alone dwarfs all of our animals heads. It will literally be the size of a medium dog.
The head is complete, so add another 2-3 lbs to the model:

    IMG_20230408_223432731.jpg
    IMG_20230408_223441707.jpg

The CaveGod AT-AT MOC is quite a bit more detailed and smooth than the Lego UCS version. CaveGod also did a much better job with the red front wind screen shape IMHO:

    IMG_20230408_223605932.jpg
    IMG_20230408_223612796.jpg

The neck is well done with many Technic bars and axles keeping things together and supported. It also is movable side to side with some rotatable Technic elements:

    IMG_20230408_223631918.jpg
    IMG_20230408_223640354.jpg

Not that I have huge hands, but this thing is way too big to pick up my the head itself, but the head dwarfs my hand:
    IMG_20230408_223729273.jpg
    IMG_20230408_223823485.jpg
    IMG_20230408_223828915.jpg

My only deal is there are and continue to be SO many missing parts......by the time I make it back to an actual OOB Lego set, I'm going to be in shock when all the parts I need are actually there.

Missing parts included the upper joint plates for the sides of the head and the two light blasters on the side of the cheeks......sigh......off to order more parts!

Dumb question for an enthusiast thread, but what are the brands like bricklink, cavegod, etc. that are posted here. Are they repackaged kits that use Lego brand bricks or are they stand alone companies with Lego compatible bricks? Looks like some really cool options.

bricklink is a lego forum type site that has a resale marketplace for everything ever made by lego - sometimes better deals than the pick a brick direct from lego for bulk parts or a great source if you have an old set you're trying to replace certain out of print pieces for. they also have a forum and a library of MOCs (my own creations) that people can post the building instructions for things that they've designed in the bricklink software Studio. that's where the cavegod at-at came from. and in the last couple of years they've started mass producing some of those MOCs as part of the bricklink designer program. works sort of like lego ideas

Good lord. I knew this thing was huge, but this really drove that point home. Can't wait to see more!

Bricklink is a secondary market for official Lego bricks. @MTgirl have a good rundown of some of its details. Another similar site is BrickOwl, but Bricklink is the older of the two and has the larger user base and seller storefront. Bricklink is also owned by Lego as of 2019.

Cavegod is a Lego enthusiast and designer of the colossal AT-AT MOC @Out2gtcha is building. He bought the instructions and parts for the design.

The are sites such at Rebrickable where you can purchase instructions for MOCs designed by other enthusiasts. Parts for these can be purchased through Bricklink or BrickOwl.

Some other members have posted about sets from Cobi, which is a company out of Poland that makes Lego compatible bricks primarily of military subjects.

Brickmania is another company focusing on ministry subjects, but their sets are designed by freelance builders and primarily use official Lego bricks. They do not recieve support from Lego and have to source their bricks from new sets and the secondary market, therefore their highly detailed models also have a very high pricetag.

    Hope this helps!

and don't forget about Citizen Brick. They make custom figs based on different pop culture icons - movie stars, musicians, etc

Picked up a display stand and light kit off Amazon for Mando’s N-1 starfighter, it’s my only Lego set (for the moment) and I'm pretty stoked how it turned out.

They don't make them anymore :( all of their figs are limited edition, can't even find them on the resale market. I think they were like $45 originally which seemed outrageous.
