    I'd look for a different dealer. I bought my Taco with NO TRADE IN but it was the start of the mark up era. Still think I made good with what I got

    Back in the late 1990's I worked for a Harley Davidson dealership and that was the time period when Harley couldn't build bikes fast enough fro the demand. Lots of my area dealerships were doing that because otherwise they would have nothing to sell for weeks or months at a time. It's not right and it drives the prices up beyond reason but it's legal so they'll do it. If you're not in dire need for a new truck just wait it out.

    When I bought my TRD Pro from SF Toyota, they had a GR Corolla on the lot and it was marked up + they required a trade in. I get the dealership logic on a limited (by Toyota corporate) model like the GR that a dealership may only get 1 or 2 of, but for something like a Tacoma, there's plenty of them all over - just shop around.
