Hello, I just wanted to say I have researched the crap out of this website, specifically on aftermarket clutches. I have found a lot of useful information, and have many questions still.

History: I have an 08 tacoma, 6speed 4.0l 4x4. Motor blew at 85k (oil pump took a poop), found a used running engine with 150k. The motor came out of a rolled 05 taco, and due to my experience previously owning an 05 with a bad head gasket @180k and research on TW, I have decided to replace the head gaskets. With the engine on the stand currently, this turned into me doing a slight engine rebuild. Installing new gaskets, seals, timing chains and tensioners, ect. Only thing left untouched is the pistons, rods, and crank. Motor ran great prior to pulling, and head gasket was not blown yet. Thats the history of whats going on :)

My clutch is a stock aisin clutch, has 25k on it (replaced at 60k). It has been roasted many times tho, mainly from off-roading in 4hi or from letting chicks who claim they know manual drive when i've had a few too many beers lol. I do like to off road it a lot, and yes I have the clutch skills.

Anyway, I am looking into replacing my clutch with a stage 2 clutch. My taco is my daily driver, but love to hit any trails/terrains during the weekend. I have 18" rims with 33" mud terrains on it currently. 3" Bilstein lift with EMU springs. Don't mind a little aggressive clutch even on the road, but obviously do not want an on/off button for my clutch.

From my research, I have heard a lot of good and some bad on the URD stage 2 clutch, but unfortunately they are out of stock. I have also heard about marlin crawler, but again, out of stock.

I concluded a puck clutch and muti-disc clutches are overkill, maybe a kevlar design, but I heard those have decreased torque?? I was looking into the SPEC stage 1/2 clutch on URD, but I cannot find reviews from people who put them on tacos, but in general the brand seems good. I have also found that Competition clutches are hit or miss, so I will probably stay away from those.

I will be getting the URD TOB sleeve kit, as I have had the chirp from day one. I do not mind going a little overboard with a stage 1/2 clutch, but will need to know how much the stock release bering can handle and stuff like that. And as most people, I would like a clutch that would last, would prefer to not be doing a clutch 50K later after this.

Please share your experiences and reviews, and anyone running a SPEC clutch please. I see it is easy to start thinking overboard, as stage 2/3/4 clutches are all around the same prices lol. Mainly looking at stage 2, but open to any input. Thanks!!!

Look up the LC Engineering performance clutch for your tacoma year. Ive heard great things about these clutches as well as upgrading your flywheel to a heavier flywheel to help with larger / heavier tires.

I am most likely going to keep my flywheel stock, I am leaning towards the SPEC stage2+ clutch. Similar to the SPEC stage 2, but has a higher torque rating.
