Are 4600s + Blue Sumos good for stock height towing?

    I have a 2021 TRD OR. Everything is stock, but I do have the OTT tune. I am getting a camper this summer that weights about 3600 pounds dry. I estimate it'll be no more than 4100 fully loaded the way my wife and I camp, possibly under 4000, and I plan on keeping the bed mostly empty to stay well under the GVWR. It'll also have the Fastway E2 WDH. I'm in Alaska so there won't be much camping unless its May - October. Otherwise, this is just my daily driver. Potholes are quite common and road conditions can vary a lot from freshly patched to packed gravel.

    I have no interest in a lift, I just want to improve the ride and sag while towing, even though the WDH will already help with that some, and still have a pleasant ride will unloaded. I'm definitely still learning about what all the different suspension upgrades do, but I'm thinking about doing Bilstein 4600s and blue Sumo Springs.

    Would these work well together? I'm just not sure how the Sumos will affect the travel of the 4600s.

    My wallet tells me I should just do these upgrades in the rear - any advice on whether its worth it to do 4600s and/or sumos in the front too?

    Is there anything I'm overlooking here?

    It’s a good choice, the 4600s are a mild upgrade and will handle the towing a lot better.

    The sumos ride firm when they are working but we have lots of customers that like it for part time towing as it keeps it level and no embarrassing headlights in the sky.

    I dont think the 4600 are going help with your suspension of your camper...they will dampen and make it ride smoother. The Sumos will definitely help and are very popular Or try Helwigs, which I have and I think are great. Helwigs can be fine tuned by simply tightening the u-bolts they come with. I have might light, which mean they do not engage at all with no load, but you can tighten them to engage with no to light light. Super easy install. The reason I went with Helwigs was to keep my stock leaf spring in good condidtion, Tacoma have very weak springs and if you carry heavy loads often, you will bend/invert your springs. The Helwigs keep the curve intact.
    I did confirm myself a while back with Bilstein.4600s are same as 5100s without out the lifting clips in the front and obviously a different color. ..I emailed Bilstein when we did my Dad's 2000 Tacoma)

    If you are trying to keep it under budget, just do the rear sumo or helwig...skip the rear shocks on the first trip. Then do the rear shock for your second trip (Super easy DIY install)...and then you can compare. Do your research and good luck.
