Back in my DIY budget race car mode we used to take out the stock mounts (usually engine/transmission/diff) and fill all of the voids with something lile 3M window weld which is polyurethane and if I remember fairly stiff. The end result would be somewhere between an aftermarket poly mount and the stock squishy ones.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen people do this here. I haven’t looked at the engine mounts recently so maybe they aren’t correct style for this but I know the trans mount is.

    Anyone tried this out?

Not the correct style compared to GM mounts that you’re thinking of. Toyota ones are one solid block of rubber.

That sucks. Maybe once I replace the engine mounts I’ll do the trans mount with window weld and see how it goes.

Edit: after looking at some pics I ordered a mount off of rock auto as it looks like there is room to stiffen it up a bit. The mount is pretty cheap so figured why not.

So I got the mount. First of its super floppy. I can deflect the stud by hand by 0.5-0.75” without much work.

Good news I took the mount apart and it’s going to be super easy to add a ton of window weld which I think is going to make a good difference. Since there is a lot of empty space in the mount for window weld.

I’ll post again once done with results.
