I am replacing all of the speakers in my but leaving the factory head unit, I want to add an amp to power the after market speakers. To keep it simple I am asking whether or not I need the pink wire that I have modeled in the picture, Do I need a wire to go from the amp back to the wiring that goes to the speakers or does that not matter because there are both positive and negative wires?

    What are you asking exactly?

Are you asking whether you need a trigger wire? That answer depends entirely on the model of your amp. Or are you asking whether your amp needs input? Because yes, your amp actually needs eight inputs. Two wires from each channel in, two wires for each channel going out. 8 in, 8 out, plus power, plus trigger, plus ground.

... I think you need to find an audio buddy and trade him some beer for garage time.

    Pink wire = ground wire???

If so, no you don’t need to tie them together. The H/U will be grounded in the harness, just find a suitable ground close to where you mount the amp. Grind away the paint on any bolt and clamp the ring terminal down.

    Pink wire = remote wire???

If so, yes you need to tie the H/U and the remote trigger on the amp together. Otherwise the amp won’t turn on. Some amps have “signal sensing”, so the wire can be nerfed.

Uhm, you don't Tee the Amp wires into the speaker wires..

    RTFM for your amp/headunit

This is a basic wiring diagram, if you don't understand everything in this one that's ok...BUT STOP AND LEARN BEFORE YOU INSTALL ANYTHING IN YOUR TRUCK.

When this basic diagram makes perfect sense to you then soldier on.

should I go for a 4 channel amp and a mono channel later if I would like to add a sub?

Adding a subwoofer later with a separate amplifier will require you to choose the correct 4 Channel amplifier in the first place because you will need to accommodate sending a signal to your future subwoofer amplifier. This means you need something with a line level pass through aux out, or something installed between your factory radio and amplifier(s) that gives you the subwoofer signal.

About this harness, I want to make sure you are on the right page.

    This is a nope:

Are you guys even speaking English? This is why my MT will sadly sound like shit forever. Far to complex for my peanut brain... can you believe I got a quote for 2300.00 to upgrade sound. Without a new head unit..

I'll just listen to npr news. Shitty audio works great 4 that.

Is that harness something I can find online or am I going to need to make it myself?

Both. There are places that make them. They are also easy to make. I prefer to make them myself so the runs to and from the aftermarket amplifier are the correct length.
