So I'm in a pending purchase for a 2012 Tacoma Prerunner 4.0L Access cab. It's has 32000 miles on it but the price does reflect the youthfulness of the vehicle. I've seen a few of these circulating around the online purchase sites and was seeing if anyone has heard of a scam happening?

Scams happen everywhere everyday. Need more info on the truck, images, including frame, to tell more.

Plus look into the Carfax, seller, get a pre purchase inspection, etc.

Just be sure to do your due diligence to verify the mileage is correct and inspect it inside and out, just because the mileage is low doesn't mean there's not gremlins hiding somewhere such as rust, collision, or flood damage.

Look at the brake pedal pad and if there is any wear at all it's higher mileage. On the other hand if it looks new it's been replaced for some reason. Low milage may mean it's been sitting in a repair shop for a while. That doesn't mean it's a bad truck...

That is a lot of $ for that truck regardless of the miles.

Uhhh I despise Carvana vehicles. Before I bought my truck 4 years ago they had a Tacoma I was interested in.
Unfortunately you can’t actually go and “look at the truck” before you purchase it, unless something has changed? I HATE that business model but I’m old school in my ways. Maybe that explains why they are on the verge of collapse though….

OP, that’s a lot of bread for a 2012, you plan on driving it for the next 10 years? Also be aware just because the mileage is low it doesn’t mean the truck is a cream puff. Seals and gaskets rot over time from not being used, just a thought.

Just asking. You do realize Pre-Runners are 2 wheel drive.

Carvana is a headache to deal with. They actually lost the cashiers check I handed to them at delivery. That said they do have a return window for you to drive it/use it but can't remember the miles/time. Pretty sure you aren't guaranteed to get your vehicle back if you have a trade in. All in all I bought a year old/8K miles Yukon from them a year ago for around $40K. Dealers around here wanted $50K for the same model/features with 90K+ miles. Personally wouldn't buy that truck with your money. A quick search says you could get a 3rd Gen 4X4 for about the same price. Might be a few more miles but if you're willing to buy a 10yo truck for that I would guess you trust in Toyota reliability.

congratulations on then Tundra, was on my short list before the Tacoma was purchased. knowing what i do now about my Tacoma and comfort id likely have grabbed a tundra. since my friend and i get about the same fuel economy. love my tacoma, but wouldn't have minded a bit more rear leg room.

I would take that $27,000.00 and buy a slightly higher mileage 4x4 taco from someone on this site, or elsewhere, for that matter. Where are you located? Check the for sale threads on this site, TW owners take good care of their vehicles for the most part. You may find an even better deal here on TW and from someone with extensive service records. Just a thought, if you’ve no need for 4x4 the Carvana deal might be decent, are you able to get a pre purchase inspection with Carvana?

Just as an example, this is a hell of a good (not mine) OBO deal.
