Stock wheels but I did put on the Falken Wildpeaks. I don't think it coincided with the new tires but I don't recall exactly when I noticed it.

Also "Warped Rotors" are almost always pad deposits cooked onto the rotors. Not what you would image warped rotors would be. I've had it twice on my 2nd Gen in 40K but not yet on the 3rd.. not a big deal, rotors are cheap.

I haven't had it checked yet, but my feeling is it's front.

I am experiencing the same Issue on my 2006 Tacoma. 183,000 Miles. I recently had New OEM Rotors & Pads on the front. And new drums on the rear. It definitely has made a huge difference in sound & performance. But when Im coming off the mountain on steep down hill sections, the wheel will violently shake when I break above 40 MPH. But then becomes totally smooth under 25-30 MPH. It also brakes perfectly smooth on flat roads. It only happens on steep down hill. I know everything checks good, rotors are not warped. Should I be concerned? Or just Ride it out until I need new brake pads in a year or so. Thank you

I experienced the exact same thing yesterday coming down the mountain. I'm at 35K miles with -12 16" wheels and 32's. Only mods done. I have my truck inspected at recommended intervals by Toyota and never a mention of brakes to date. I am tempted to throw on some drilled/slotted with high quality pads though.

DanerZone, did you figure out what this was?

When I went to EBC slotted, and drilled rotors on my tundra with semi metallic pads, the pads were noisy, and didn't perform well till you built enough heat in them. I went back to the toyota ceramic pads. They worked great, no noise, and they stopped much better all around. The days of stock rotors warping were over. I had these rotors on my tundra till the day I sold it.

I'm a little confused. Just to be sure, are you saying that drilled/slotted rotors plus OEM pads are the best solution to this vibration issue?

Just an update for anyone who cares. I took the truck in last summer to get the rotors turned. Not much changed and actually seemed to be getting worse. I went back and they said they turned them again. Now the issue is gone. I question whether or not they actually turned them the first time. In any case, seems like the rotors were the issue. I'm still on stock rotors.

That's very helpful, thank you. I'll try this route first and will keep aftermarket in mind just in case.

I normally like to stay with OEM, but my vibration appeared around 40K miles. This caused me go after-market and try PowerStop. Glad your vibration is gone.

    ^^^^^^^^this!!!!!!
it is likely deposits! stop with the warped rotors crap. it can happen but it is rare. the deposits can be removed with a drill and a scouring tool. i did it once and saved the rotors (on another vehicle).

turning rotors makes them thinner and more susceptible to warping in the future.

I agree with this assessment, and something else that sometimes can happen if the wheels aren't evenly torqued that could also be a contributing factor.

Rust build up on the rotor hats that needs cleaning off.

At 160K I am still on the original rotors and developed high speed brake vibration around the same mileage as you. Around the same time, I threw on billet aluminum wheel spacers and have been running the same ones since. My vibrations also went away and have not been a problem ever since either.

Deduce what you may from this.

sometimes you just need to bed in the brakes again. if you never brake very hard this can happen. Try doing some very hard stops in succession.

What shop did you end up going to get them turned? Do you remember how much it cost?

I'm having this same extreme vibration issue but only when a heavy load in the cab/bed (4 skiiers and gear), and coming down a very steep grade (like the worst parts of i70)... I feel no vibration or pulsation otherwise while braking. Took it to ATLR in Arvada and they suggested replacing rotors and brakes for $500+... fuck that! I have 35,000 miles on the truck so I was just going to see if it gets worse/more common. Turning them might also be an option.

Def would try replacing the Rotors, get OEM. I just hit 100k and replaced the first set of rotors and OEM pads. They last pretty long imo. I drive pretty slow tho.
