Love this thing. Had one as a teen. Had this one for about 7 years now and keeps going.

Inherited this from my Dad. He loved that Rolex. I appreciate what it represents but it’s not me. I know they are expensive. It’s a vintage 70’s I think. A little worn and needs a little work. Anyone know it’s approximate value based on the brief description I provided? Thanks.

Bought this one in June of 81 for my birthday, it was my all the time wristwatch. casual, work or dress. It did duty for all events. Stuck a strapcode endmill bracelet on it a couple years ago and retired it from day to day use.

Went on a fishing trip to the Bahamas in May of 83 and my ex saw this one in Freeport and said the Seiko above is too clunky for a dress watch and bought it for my birthday. 40 years ago next month, I still wear it about once a week. Thin line chronometer quartz, in 83 you could not hardly find a mechanical, I probably would not have bought one anyway. Wasnt that important to me then, may not be now.

Good looking datejust, I would consider it priceless. I would get it cleaned up and running good.

I have my dads 1948 Lord Elgin that was given to him by his favorite brother who killed in a robbery in the late 50's. I had it repaired and cleaned up and wear it every time I get together with family or at a function that I think my dad would have wanted to attend.

Nice Casio!! The Rolex looks like a Datejust 1601. Prices are all over depending on condition, but seem to swing from $2000 to $5500, from what I can find. I agree with @perterra in that it's "priceless given its history. See if you can find a local AD and consider having it refurbished.

Yesterday we finally cracked 50°F, so I took the old orange turd out and blew the dust off of it. The GS came along, too. :anonymous:

Thanks guys. That was helpful. I will try to look into finding some place I can trust to refurbish this Rolex.

If not an Authorized Dealer, then research and get references for the places you find.

I like those Orients, picked up a Bambino last year and have really been impressed with it.

Since we're talking Orient. My first step into watches was the Seiko 5 field watch. It was too small with too small numbers for me to even see it without glasses. Sent it back and got this Orient pilot watch. Been a great knock around watch.

Not much of a story unless you are family. He was a bus driver in Dallas. He gave the guys the money then they shot him in the head. He never regained consciousness. Both guys were caught, convicted and sent to prison. I think one got 15 years, one got 25. The one who got 25 died in prison and the one who got 15 served his time, then when he got out he robbed someone else and was sent back up. Happened in the late 50's, I think I might have been a year old when it happened

I can only say if you wear vintage be secure in your manliness. It's a little guy. I never gave a shit what people thought about it, I wore it for me, not for them.

Thought about a dial refinish, it was silver when I was growing up. The guy who rebuilt the movement told me, even the spring bars in this one were gold.

Zelos, only 100 made. Got it as a birthday gift two years and never have/will take it off. The aging of the bronze always keeps me invested!

At some point in the future. I have located 3 Authorized Dealers near me. It’s not a high priority at the moment. I was more curious what the base line of value the watch held. I know my Dad had the watch serviced a long time ago by a trusted jeweller. He knew it need some money invested for maintenance not long ago, but never got around to it.

Oh wow. Sad to hear, so much desperation. Y'all be careful out there with all the guns and drugs running around these days.
