    LS1 swap with nitros.
    That’s one problem for each of the cylinders in it.

    Can't be worse than a Ford. I friend who is a 30 year Ford mechanic usually would say no to turbos but now tells people no to Fords, just too many recalls.

    first year of a turbo engine along with all the other changes and complications? It sure wont be smooth sailing.

    Vehicles are just too complicated and super expensive to fix these days. Just give me a 305 v8 with a holly and a manual.

    If you are concerned about the gas mileage looking at the cost to fix the simplest thing would probably offset the difference.
    The cost just to replace the timing cover gasket and coolant crossover pipe (engine removal) are insane.
    Labor rates over $100 an hour to fix things on an engine which are imo there to increase gas mileage and efficiency are ridiculous.
