I had a wild experience with my aftermarket camera that I wondered if you guys could figure out/ confirm or deny my hypothesis. Here's the series of events.

Context: I installed an Anywhere Backup camera on my 2018 Tacoma. It's a Nakita premium backup camera but oriented on the front bumper. I've had the system installed for a while and recently upgraded to the Nakita, which required rewiring. The camera jacks into the head unit with the reverse camera, splices into that harness and has a relay with a control switch. I live in a townhouse with a tandem garage so I use it every day to avoid crushing my wife's car or camping gear.

    So here's what happened:

    1. Used the camera to pull into a neighbor's garage

    2. Spent about 30 minutes jumping his BMW with its crazy battery set up. Reason it took so long is that we originally put the ground on a body bolt but that didn't work. Eventually found the weird ground post location and that eventually jumped his car.

    3. Drove over to my house, camera was no longer working, showed a black screen.

    4. Next day, front camera showed lots of jittery black lines and black out screen.

    5. Removed the head unit and jiggled the wires, making the distortion worse. Put it all back together for a weekend project.

    6. Today I drove across town. Used the camera in the parking lot and it works fine now

    7. Has worked fine since, no black screen or distortion.
My hypothesis: Jumping the BMW drained the electrical system power just enough to piss off the after-market camera that is already piggy backing on a system that is properly wired. Taking the truck across town properly recharged the system.

What do you guys think??? This is weird to me.
