I bought my truck in October, so I haven’t ran the AC very much. Now that the weather is starting to warm up, I’ll jump in my truck after work and set the AC to around 72. I have a long drive home, so sometimes the cabin can start to get too cold so I’ll start cranking up the temperature to 76 or 78 to warm things up a bit.

The problem is the air coming out of the vents is not getting that much warmer. It’s only when I crank it to 80 do I start to feel the air actually warm up. Then I can crank it back down to 74/76/78 and actually feel the difference in temperature from the cold.

When testing, I have AC on. auto off. and re-circulate on. I have tried turning AC off to see if that makes a difference, but it does not. It’s almost like the truck thinks I’m bluffing about turning warmer air on during the warm weather, and it only believes me when I hit 80 or above.

any of y’all experienced this apart from this, the AC and heat worked fine.

The temps of these trucks aren't exact. Your truck is operating properly. You are turning the temp up and the air is getting warmer. Maybe start your drive with the temp at 76 and see how that feels? I'm old school so its windows down for me.

Because you're only requesting a 6° change in temperature. Its not going to kick on full heat for just 6°. Its not like your home furnace that has to heat 1000+ sq feet, its only heating up the cabin a small amount

Besides, who thinks 72 is too cold :anonymous:

You have to remember, unlike your home HVAC, your vehicle can (and will) create hot and and cold air at the same time, and has the ability to blend the two. My GF does this and it drive me nuts, I always tell her to pick a comfortable temperature and leave it. But, she doesn't like the initial blast of air as the system turns the fan on high to get hot/cold air out, then it still too hot or cold, so she has "auto" and drives with her hand on the temp knob or finger on the fan speed button :annoyed:

72 in my truck is ice cold. My truck only seems to have an ice cold range, a moderately warm range, and then volcano hot.

And I don’t expect full heat for a 6 degree temp change. I expect warmER air, but I get none. It basically stays cold. But it seems like this is normal… so I’ll shut up.
