Bought my 2017 SR new, she currently has 70k miles on her. Had the trans fluid changed at 60k at the dealer and just today started the rest of the overdue maintenance stuff (diffs, t-case, spark plugs, front brake pads/rotors, oil change).

Just thought I'd mention my rear diff was about a quart low, which I remember seeing many posts about on here.

T-case fluid looked clean, but man that Toyota oil is pricey! Air filter wasn't very dirty but changed anyway.

Front diff drain bolt stripped....so that's fun. Also appears to be a common issue. Good times for the future I suppose as I'll have to get another plug, this one is going to look like hell by the time it's out.

Spark plugs tomorrow. Still waiting on the MotivX (spelling) oil filter housing tool, so no oil change until that shows up.

Also I see my front pads are just about shot, and the rotors are warped since last June or so. I will need to get those too.

Oh yeah, tire rotation too. I guess I'm used to driving cars, the truck is a bit harder on tires. The rotation thing seems to be more important with the Tacoma.

    Mostly because I like photos.

Note the old rear axle oil, that's all that came out.

I wish I had the know-how to do these things. And the ability to actually get under the thing and get out in one piece would help too.

I hate to admit it but it's definitely harder on me than it was 20 years ago, but I'm just taking my time with it. I've got 4 of the spark plugs in and changed the oil so far today....breaking for lunch. The last two plugs will be a treat. Saved them for last

Doing this tomorrow on my GF’s rouge
Cabin filter, air filter, changing all brake fluid and check pads also, drain fill coolant, drop transmission pan drain fill and change filters, spark plugs, awd diff oil, all but oil used dealer did that, I think that’s it. 126k not sure if any of this has been done. Ugh….Lol

While underneath I would also check suspension bushings for wear and see if there are any zerks that require being lubed.

I also stripped my front diff bolt… replaced it with stock one. Although there is a 14mm Lexus version that fits I believe.

This took me 11 hours. Ugh. Of course tranny pan 3 bolts wouldn’t tighten back up luckily I found some similar and got them in and tight. Hopefully no leak.
Front diff hidden, and a hidden cartridge filter you gotta take all kind of stuff off to get at. Hopefully that’s that with no issues. Liking my Tacoma more and more now.

Welcome.. this isnt for the fill plug though so if that one is stuck too, I'm not sure the Lexus number for it. Anyway, I had good luck using a cold chisel and hammer to break it free. Some good videos on YouTube if you search how to remove Toyota differential drain plug... Good luck!
