Looks like we scared him off… or his truck rusted away.

ditto on the iron x and clay bar. For a few hours of work and under $50 he’ll be all set. And a good sealant will be far better than out of date carnuba wax. That stuff lasts a few months.

What we've got here is failure to communicate.

Some men, you just can't reach.

Hmmm by any chance did you used to drive an F-150 that didn't have any of these problems?

Really loving this truck, except for the dang accumulator. Cannot stand this clutch. Put on a Pedal Commander and it came to life.

Ford uses rust proof paint and it works! No rusty paint, just rusty body panels.
Seriously though it's iron from road use- vehicle brake dust sticking to the paint. Not just your vehicle too. Some paints are softer than others and the iron dust will stick to softer paints more than the harder paints. I still wouldn't consider the Ford as a superior vehicle even if it has harder paint on it.

Calm down use a clay bar and iron remover. I have a 2017 MBM with 50k on it I wash it every month and use a hybrid ceramic wax every 3 months and I don’t have any rust not even where there are paint chips

I have never seen anything like this on my vehicles before so It is very puzzling, but seeing as I live in the middle of nowhere, I hopped on my bike and drove over 100 miles today just to find something comparable to this iron-x people are talking about which is not available anywhere near me. I finally found some Maguire's Iron Removing Spray "Clay" and picked up some clay bars at one of the 4 places I looked and now am too dang tired to try anything today, so will give it a shot tomorrow. Thanks for the reply. I will update with my results.:fingerscrossed:

Lowe’s has what you need. Stop saying how you’ve never seen this before and just don’t understand. It happened. Can’t change that. Move on to fixing it. People have tried to tell you what it is. They have even gave you (very) good advice on what to do and exactly how to do it.

Maybe less worry about how to explain your feelings about it and more time trying to take care of it will make it go away. Then you will understand what it was and how to take care of it.

If you have never used clay bars, you are in for a treat. It is a must do before you ever wax your truck again. Used with light lube spray (not the dirty kind…) the clay bar is rubbed back and forth on the paint. It picks up all the crap on your paint like these small iron spots, bug guts, tar, etc. what you are left with is something far smoother than the shit talkers on this forum and then you can wax, seal, or put whatever you want onto the paint. The worst part about waxing etc your truck from here on out will be the clay bar step… as it takes the most time. After, the wax is simply wax on, wax off.

sorry about your bed time too… glad you came back!
