Item #1: An $800 order from McGeorge Toyota, marked as signature required without my request. Contacted them and informed them that I would have to take time off work and their response was to have it delivered to the local Fedex Office, still 10 miles away, and I'd still have to take time off work. It would take them exactly one phone call/change in the order to have it left on the porch, but that's way too much trouble. :-\

Item #2: Note in advance: this is not a slam of Big O tires in general, I will still go there, it's about the erosion of work ethics in general. You know how you finally find a shop with "that guy" - No bullshit, shoots it straight, you get to feel like you can trust him? Our local Big O tires has that guy, but he wasn't there, just the regular goof off crew. I was planning to just pay for the tires and have it done later but they just happened to have a set of AT's I could afford (sorta) so I went for it, dropped almost 1K on tires yesterday.

My first clue was the apprentice went to pull the truck in and had to go back in and get his boss to do it. He didn't know how to drive a manual transmission. I'm serious, no joke.

I asked them to take the best tire and put it on the spare. Big mistake. Here's the normal condition of the back of my ExtraCab for context.

I guess my second mistake was didn't pull out the spare tire hardware for them (didn't have time, it was a spur of the moment purchase.) Here is how they left it.

Note the f***ing tools aren't even in the right slots of the bag.

How it's supposed to store for context.

I could go back and complain about it, but to what end LOL . . . Like I said, this won't make me stop going to Big O, but I will say when I get the CA/BJ project done and come back for an alignment, I'll come back when "that guy" is in the house.

People just don't give a shit about their work any more. It's like they have no personal satisfaction of pride in their work. I just don't get it.

Yeah I know boo fn hoo waa fn wah . . . . it just gets old after a while when you get more service from a minimum wage grocery checker than someone you're forking $$ over to 1K at a time. :-\

Ive dealt with many places that require signature for delivery on orders above $500, I just have them delivered to my work if its gonna be a problem, I bet if you had a option to decline signiture required and it didn't show up/gets stolen from your porch you'd be bitching about how they should have made you get signiture required.
I hated when customers wanted the best old tire put on as a new spare, I dont get paid for time to dig through your truck to find the spare tire tools, to lower the rusty ass cable/chain that doesnt want to move, then to lift the spare back in its place and put your shit all back how I dont recall you had it, I definatly dont remember which slot of the bag each tool portion goes in. Also you know the employee who installed your tires didn't get the full $1000 you paid right? He got paid maybe $60, $80 tops.
Now I do agree that after 2 month of working on cars professionally to any degree one needs to know how to drive a manual.

Shit, we hired a truck driver 2 weeks ago, 10 years on the job CDL w/hazmat endorsement. Only found out he couldnt drive a manual when his assigned route truck went in to the shop and ol smokey was all that was left. First thought was replace him, except after setting up 11 interviews he was the only one who actually showed up for the interview.
I was asked for a reference years ago on an old employee, was asked will he steal? Reply was for what you motherfuckers pay, if he wants to have a roof over his head he will have to. Hard to have a lot of pride when you are pushed constantly to hurry for low wages. Was this the case in your situation, dont have a clue. But I know of plenty of over worked under paid folks who dont get their bonus unless they cut a lot of corners. I work with some.

My advice is go back to Big O and tell them the service sucks, the guy will get fired and his kid will not get the liver transplant he needs and they will lose their home, but maybe you wont have to put up your own shit next time.

Honestly I would not go to Big O, only set of tires I ever got from a Big O were some lumpy fuckers.

By the by, dont take my answer too seriously, it's pretty common these days, but really, you dont know what is driving this. Guy could have just learned that his wife is screwing the milk man or his doc told him his cods have 3 months to live.

LOL no, a lot of people get vindictive over this shit and it makes matters worse. As mentioned, to what end? These are all young guys, you could hear them mock singing and goofing off, they just don't give a crap, which is really my point. I was raised with the idea that if you're going to work for 8 hours (10 in my case,) might as well do the job instead of putting your energy into figuring out how to get out of working and still get the paycheck.

Nope, that was actually in the letter, we don't have those problems here (yet) and told them I understand it's to protect the goods and I'm not pulling any "not delivered" antics. Fedex takes a pic of it on the porch anyway. You missed the point, or maybe it's the way I worded it. It wasn't the sig required, it was the company rep's complete unwillingness to work with me in spite of just dropping $800 on their products.

Huh, that's interesting. When I took the wife's Rav in, "that guy" came out of the shop and asked me if I wanted that done. It's called service. Besides, the people in the shop are paid hourly, it all pays the same so WTF is the difference.

I’d rather put the tools up myself as to have a smoked clutch.
I guess we have to give the guy “some” credit.

But I do agree, the tools should have been put back up.
