I ordered my new Tacoma back in February and it finally arrived on Thursday. I purchased it yesterday and I’m very happy with it so far. On my test drive I noticed a small scratch on the dash above the gauge cluster. It’s small, but when you’re spending a large amount of money, you want it close as perfect as possible. It doesn’t help that it’s directly in my line of sight. The salesman and manager said they can have it repaired. I have that signed and in writing. My question is, do you think they will be able to repair the scratch? Repairing plastics is beyond my level of experience. Or will the dash most likely need to be replaced or will I just have to live with it. Thanks for your input!

it probably can be repaired, replacing the whole dash is not worth it for that. You'll have random unwanted noises and such. lol

Sounds like a Friday thread ... sorry.

Some people spend a week at a time tearing their dash out and rewiring putting in 5 circuit controllers for light bars, ditch lights and seat heaters. I would image some damage occurs during such operations.

I would guess the body shop for the dealer can squeeze some compound that will dry and fill in that gap, but ...

They'll probably just epoxy it to fill it, can't be worse than it is.

They can fix it. Probably almost undetectable. I had a Chevy that had dash damage from the factory or transit. Much worse than your pic. Repair was perfect. Good luck and I hope it's quick.

That’s my thinking. I’ll just live with it before going through that. I’d be worried about messing something up worse or creating rattles by switching it out.

I know we all want our new vehicles to be perfect off the lot, but that rarely is the case. Problem with this one is it'll be staring the OP right in the face every time he gets in the truck! Hopefully they can do an acceptable repair.

Get it replaced, it's a new truck. People are so quick to settle for 2nd rate any more, it's been drilled into them. The person at the factory that did that probably got a ribbon & a smiley face on his check so he wouldn't feel bad.

They’ll fill it in. And that’s probably all I’d want them to do b/c I wouldn’t want some dealer tech on his first day on the job ripping out my dash over a little scratch.

2007 Corolla, until I moved to AZ and needed a vehicle that can handle "primitive road" (yes ... that is a "thing" out here). Still stung ...
