Toyota Connected Services: Is It Ghosting You Too?

    I have a bone to pick with Toyota Connected Services, and I wanted to know if anyone else feels the same. After my one-year trial ended, I decided to pay for the service, but I encountered some issues.

    It's like the app is ghosting me! It shows my doors are locked, and my windows are up, but they're not. And the notifications? They need to be more consistent. Sometimes, I'll get notified for having my door open for only a few minutes, while other times, it takes way longer, or I need to get notified!

    Technology isn't perfect, but these issues persist. So, has anyone else experienced similar problems with Toyota Connected Services? And if so, have you found a solution to these issues?

    To be cheeky the best solution was to discontinue the service.

    Seriously tho, after the first free year I paid for another 6 months. I didn’t have said issues like you. I really thought I needed the service as I felt more connected to the truck. As strange as that sounds. Once I cut the umbilical cord I quickly found that it didn’t really provide any value to me. I obviously just make sure I check all doors, windows and fuel level like I used to do prior to having an app and don’t miss the app at all. YMMV.

    I don't disagree. I didn't renew right away and waited two months. However, the remote start is big for me where I am ... And I may or may not have left my moonroof open overnight to collect snow.

    I will say that the service notifications work. I removed a door panel to do sound deading and forgot to plug my side mirror back in. The system gave an error, then the app sent me an error, and the next day, I received a phone call asking if everything was okay.

    I don't necessarily mind a pay-to-play service, but the other bits have got to work.

    I never connected mine in the first place, including Sirius XM, who even so still send me junk mail and junk texts (texts I have now marked as spam) - you don't miss what you never had

    Same here never fell for the connected services. I live in remote area where phone signals are bad so it would of been a waste of money but still did not want it. I do love the Sirius Xm which I listen to a lot more than any other services out there. just saying.

    I rarely used Sirius, and even then, the app version seemed to work better than the native one. When I replaced my head unit, I didn't even bother with connecting Sirius back.

    I use the connect service exactly for the same reason as mentioned-remote start. I do encounter the same issues with false messages on the windows being closed when they are not.
    More so I am unhappy about my dealership from WV calling me in TX that the Tacoma is due for the 5K inspection (not reached the 6 months yet). How do they know in WV that I have 5K on the clock?
    After the one year I will not renew any services.

    Yup, part of the connected service is just that - connected service. The vehicle sends updates back to Tacoma on everything from tire pressure to warning light status. Doesn’t bother me that it does, I just want what’s supposed to work, to work all the time.

    It’s probably caused by your truck not being able to get a message out due to poor signal strength.

    I've had mine connected since day 1 and have never had an issue. I renewed once the trial period expired. Always get the appropriate notifications if I forget to lock my truck, leave a window open, etc. It's convenient not to have to go back out to lock the truck, check tire pressure, check gas/miles to empty, etc.

    So the last updated time is correct and it doesn’t indicate that the windows are down? Try talking directly to Toyota by pushing the sos button. I had to do that once or delete the truck from the app and add it again. They’ll probably ask you to do that anyway
