    The battery doesn't need to breathe, but I would worry about leaving it in a hot truck more than in a closed case.

    It's rare but fires do happen from booster packs. I've seen one in a Rav4 that wrote it off.

    If anything it's just not healthy for the pack. So I carry mine only on road trips.

    Mine lives in one of the Noco hard shell cases with a zipper it's whole life. Works okay, never had a problem with it being in the truck in Texas summers for about 3 years now. Not saying it couldnt be a problem as Bishop84 wrote, because it could be, just that I have never had a problem. Keep in mind that for all purposes my truck was my office for the last 30 years and only in the last year and a half or so has it become less so.

    I suspect Pelican style cases would be fine.
