I tore down top side of my 96 2.4 218000 miles to replace my injectors and had to remove throttle body and saw this gunk. Is this normal, it seems excessive to me. I am going to clean it up just wondering why it is so bad. D95B7BE5-3421-4B84-BB1E-70B273E3E4C3.jpg 0C270FDE-B135-4F24-84E4-32007A2C6658.jpg

yes, thats bad. Check your intake hose for a break or maybe someone used a k&n filter and it sucked the grime in. Clean it but do it right. There are a couple of threads on here or youtube.

Might as well do the whole plenum why you are at it because it's gonna have the same junk. Check the EGR as well as the port into the plenum because it'll be gunked up as well. I installed a catch can to try to prevent it in future. Huge improvement in responsiveness. Reading on here it seems you'll have this if your use is mainly short hops and not longer driving spells.

This exactly. Best to find + fix the cause and clean up all similar gunk elsewhere. You'll be happy with how much better your truck runs

I am waiting on new injectors but have little hope for this engine. I bought it 1 month ago and have not put 100 miles on it yet. I ran compression test and have 135 on 2, 130 on another and 118 on number 3, so that cylinder is below minimum pressure.

that’s alright. I have 60 psi on number 3 cylinder on my 2.7 and I’ve been running it for like 2 months like that that I’ve known about. Who knows how long it was that low before I knew about it. Just gonna run her till she don’t run anymore.

Nothing a can of BG EPR can't fix! Works great on older engines to fix compression and stuck rings.

I only bought this thing as a spare so i can rebuild the front end on my 01 ram 1500 4x4 5.9 and maybe get better fuel economy. The dodge 360 loves fuel, but right now it's doing better than this truck with half the weight and cylinders.

Engine flush, BG is the only brand I trust for additives. They're pricey but dealerships use them too, they're good stuff.
