I just purchased a 2017 Tacoma and noticed that with the AC turned on and fan speed set to the middle or low, the compressor cycles too much, but on High speed the compressor stays on. Anyone seen this? Is this normal or is something going on? It stays cold don’t have an issue there. I have never witnessed this on any vehicle before. How would the fan speed have anything to do with the compressor?

Do your RPMS drop and then rise when this happens? Seems normal mine does this too.

From the bit info we have, I would say it's normal. The compressor isn't variable like some newer home air conditioners have, it only has an on and off state.

Ac compressor operation depends on alot of factors like air temperature, condersor cooling capability, refrigerant used, fan speed, etc if your ac blows cold don't worry about the compressor cycle time. it's still a little above freezing where I am so compressor cycle is short. When it warms up it'll get longer. Without hvac training, ac systems can get confusing so as long as it works assume it's doing it's job

The most I would do is have the refrigerant level checked.
Short cycling is often due to the low pressure switch tripping OR tripping the evaporator temp sensor to stop it from freezing up.
At low-med fan speeds but not high, this is more likely.

What cycle times and numbers are you getting and what published cycle times and numbers are you comparing them to?

Check the refrigerant pressure. Could just be low.
