My battery is on its last legs and it’s time to upgrade to something much better. I’m running 3 lights upfront, ditch lights, an auxbeam 6gang switch panel and pretty soon will be running a 26inch light bar along with a 10k winch. What do you guys recommend? I was looking at the duralast platinum 27f with efb technology DF0ABE02-D020-434A-A12F-F3D0E63F22B9.jpg

I replaced mine with a 27f from advance auto. That was 2 yrs ago. I just bought it online and picked it up.
It was all about the convenience for me. “Diehard”

With all that going on and a winch, dual battery set up. Get 2 regular 24f or 27f batteries.

I used to recommend AGM. But I now believe what some say is true. Older trucks were not designed to charge them correctly. I recently had an AGM fail on me. I let it die once, then it wouldn't hold a charge.

I bought an optima gold top 27f a long time ago for $100. It lasted about 12 years.

None of them seem to last like they used to, get one with a decent warranty.

I'm certainly no battery expert, but I've had great experiences with Interstate batteries from Costco. I may get some hate or start a flame war, but my .02

    2 simple lead battery principles:

    1. Keep it cool - This one is hard to do but batteries last a lot longer when you are in an area with lower overall temps. It's not unusual for car batteries from northern states to last 10+ years.
    2. Keep it topped off - Get a CTEK battery maintainer and a quick-release tether and keep it attached while the truck sits parked at home. CTEKs have an algorithm that analyzes the battery for wear and can "restore" it with specific pulses while charging.

The factory charging voltage isn't quite high enough to charge an AGM battery leading to undercharging the battery which is bad for it's longevity. You need a voltage booster to trick the alternator into providing the correct charging voltage or else you are going to have a shortened lifespan like you experienced.

If you get a antigravity lithium on black Friday it takes some of the bite out.
