1 thing thats really frustrating about the locker is that it takes so long to engage.. what is the trick?? I have to sit there and mess with N, P, 4D and even drive a little bit forward before it ever locks in..

I know there must be a trick but i dont know it...

Its very un handy on the trail because if you get stuck, there is no engaging it

this is because it has to line up the gears etc and lock in...in order to do that they have to spin a bit inside the diff sometimes and that means moving forward or backward

so do you leave it engaged then? What i usually do is engage it before i go through a section that looks like i could get stuck. because once your stuck your beat :/

thats pretty much what i do...open trails i disengage it and then when i hit an area where i may lift a wheel or get on some rocks i engage it

The more you use it, the easier it will engage.

Sorry guys, but i went with a Nissan Frontier Pro-4x and couldn't be happier. Has all the same stuff the taco has (I.E. locker, 4-wheel LSD) but with heated electric leather seats, full box frame, Four wheel disc brakes, 260 hp 280 torque, and all for less than the TRD off road. I still love tacos, but I guess this is good bye...:(. Thanks for all the help though guys.

    Got any picts?

Ain't nothin wrong with a Frontier. As long as you're happy and it serves you well for many many years to come.

This might be a tacoma forum - but the automotive enthusiast in me can enjoy everything with 4 wheels and a motor.

Congrats on the purchase... I considered the Frontier, its a descent truck. I wish you the best with it.
