I’m in the process of fixing a crappy paint job I did last year on some mild steel components that get exposed to the elements.

Paint and primer ended up peeling up in wear areas. Small impacts chipped paint down to bare metal too. Believe it may have been a poor primer choice vs a problem with surface prep.

So I’ve stripped everything down to bare metal, prepped it again, and primed with Eastwood 2k.

Wondering if someone has a recommendation for a good finish coat that will withstand the elements and wear/impacts?

Considering a raptor liner style coating, but never worked with it before. Would also like to use something that can be easily touched up in the future.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

    Best,

What kind of wear is it, bedliner will peel and flake off. Paint doesn't like to get hit and stay

It’s part of a truck bed sleeping platform.

The worst areas are where it sits on the composite bed, particularly near the front where some water will accumulate briefly (pictured).

it’s also taking some chips from impacts loading stuff in and out of the bed.

    Thanks for any recommendations!

I used Rustoleum bedliner on my side steps 4 years ago and it still looks fine. You have to really stir it well, then I just brushed it on. Pretty easy.

I used what was left over and did my rear bumper too.
