Last week I greased all the zurk fittings on my 99 4x4.:)
Yesterday, from a dead stop I hear "clunk"
It's definatly in the rear, from the slip yoke???
I greased the front slip yoke and I have some grease squishing out. Too much up front, but there is nothing showing on the rear slip yoke, do I need more back there? I checked the U Joints and they are solid. The only other thing I did was replace the rear differential and gear box oils with mobil 1 .But that was prior to the grease in the shafts. It only happens in first gear:confused: under normal acceleration. What the hell is going on here? Any help would be great, I leave for Georgia from Florida in a week to see the folks and I would like to make it there without the help of AAA Kevin

gonna be probably the rear springs man. i replaced my rear springs...and the axle wrap went away. you dont have to get new springs though.........a $25 set of helper springs from autozone will do the trick. something else you can try............................unbolt the driveshaft from the rear end.......pull out the slide yoke and shaft.....clean all the grease off, sand down the area if its rusty, then use some anti seize on it. before taking it off...be sure to mark it so you can line if back up. slide the shaft back in and bolt it back up, then regrease the rear there. may take care of your problem.

thanks tacomaman, I like the idea of cleaning it out first. I'll do that in the morning, also thanks for the help with the avatar personal message, I forgot how I put one in when I signed up here at TW
