Awesome job! Thanks for the additional photo and info. I was surprised at how much dust got in during my first trip on the fire roads…I have never experienced so much dust with a canopy.

if that is to carry water, wouldn't it be more appropriate to mount on the passenger side to counteract "taco lean"?

only problem i see with the tailgate weather strip is the dirt on it will scratch up the paint. keep an eye on it

Thought about that, I figure if it starts wearing into the paint I'll put a strip of that clear rock guard stuff right over the wear mark. No sense doing it until I see where it needs to go.

Is that a smile for the camera, or a squint trying to get the shot??

Small usb rechargeable compressor. Does well at about 20psi for what I need it for and holds 4.5 gallons

Probs just the parking lot I'm in. There is no water when I took these photos

Def squint, man what a terrible photo now you mentioned it. I project a much nicer smile.

I did not notice any lean in your picks. I was just commenting on the lean we all have due to gas tank and battery
and driver (when no passenger) being on the driver side. You have the opportunity to balance things out a bit (rather than make it worse) since
it will be at least 60 lbs when full. 4.5gal x 8.34lbs/gal + 20lbs (guessing empty tube weight). every little bit helps.

    Btw: beautiful build.

EDIT: of course effect lessed by weight of carrier already on passenger side. I guess it depends on wether tube is significantly heavier than carrier. difference may be in the noise.

Hmm interesting. This thought never would have crossed my mind. My pelican is def pretty heavy and that is alway on, always full. I’ll plan to make a few adjustments and give this some more thought.

if the carrier is heavy (pelican) the only way i can see to improve things would be to move the tube closer to the carrier. to do that you'd
have to turn it around to put the outlet in the front so the rear light is not obscured. i don't know if that would make
it too inconveient to operate. might not be worth doing.
i carry heavy things like stored tire chains, and anything heavy in the bed, on the passenger side to do what i can to balance out the built in lean
so it came to mind when i saw the tube. worth considering and rejecting if a reason...but if not - maybe a win.

In the warmer months, I run a bed rack and roof top tent. Weight distribution is probably all whack anyway. The truck is really packed when I weekend camp. My plan is to run a solar panel between the pelican and the water tank.

The "mod" it went on was not cheap, but weather sealing with garage door stripping was a gamechanger, and plain ol' bulb seal throughout the tailgate. Finally put my bed stiffeners in last autumn, almost 8 months after receiving them :annoyed:; they weren't super cheap but I guess cheap is subjective.

The plastic plug that gets pressed into the oil filter housing to drain it, well my fram ultra came with one that threads into the housing instead of getting pressed in. That's genius enough but my wife's overpriced bottle of human oil was a perfect fit. The fram plug had to get pressed in just slightly enough to keep it tight so it doesn't spin freely and you can now thread it in with the bottle.

Custom made mess free oil filter housing drain tool, pre-order now for $19.95!!!
