Truck Shut Off While Installing KeyLoc

Hi, I have a 2022 Tacoma, TRD sport non-jbl.
I recently installed new tweeters, front door speakers, and a subwoofer. Today, I installed a kicker keyloc in order to try and comeback the factory roll off for the base. The setup went fine. But when I was changing the gain on the output side, my truck completely shut off from its running position. I have it wired the a fuse in the kick panel and the fuse didn’t blow. The ground is the ground on the radio, as well as the front door inputs and the accessory turn on. I am just worried that this will occur again, especially while driving. Do y’all think this was just a one time occurrence when messing with the gain, or should I try and rewire anything. I’ve never heard of a truck shutting off from speaker equipment so I’m lost. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

 

The truck will only idle so long and will automatically shut itself off. I want to say 15 minutes but don’t have a manual handy to search. I would say the timer expired just as you were adjusting the gain and was a coincidence.

 

Not quite sure why you were connecting wires while the truck was on but maybe I misunderstood, good luck

 

Oh okay, I thought the automatic shut off was just if you had the truck in accessory mode and not actually running. That makes me feel a whole lot better. Thanks!

 

I’m like 80% sure that’s not a thing, but not confident enough to say it isn’t.

Anyone got a page in the manual on this idle time limit? I can’t find any mention of it

 

That 20% will get ya every time. Page 206 of the manual:
■Automatic engine shut off feature (except for New Caledonia)
●The vehicle is equipped with a feature that automatically shuts off the engine when the shift lever is in P with the engine running for an extended period.
●The engine will automatically shut off after approximately 1 hour if it has been left running while the shift lever is in P.
●The timer for the automatic engine shut off feature will reset if the brake pedal is depressed or if the shift lever is in a position other than P.
●After the vehicle is parked, if the door is locked with the door lock switch (P. 121) from the inside or the mechanical key (P. 522) from the outside, the automatic engine shut off feature will be disabled. The timer for the automatic engine shut off feature will be re-enabled if the driver’s door is opened.
