My Tacoma is at the shop about to come home after the regear and supercharger install. I'm looking for anyone who's upgraded the intake. The 3 I'm looking at are; Injen Evolution, or the Volant as they make us of the hood scoop. Any input is appreciated, if I'm an idiot and should leave it stock tell me, if it will add to the performance please tell me. My taco is a 2021 TRD PRO.20230418_133623.jpg 20230418_133646.jpg 20230406_171828.jpg 20230220_151421.jpg Thanks for all your input!

Leave it stock. Overland Tailor has been able to get over 400 HP on their Magnuson test truck with the stock CAI. Your current stock intake is a CAI, uses same box and filter as the 5.7L V8, it isn’t choking your truck.

Dyno data for 3GT with 90mm, 87mm, and 84mm pulley is in this post.

If you want more out of your Supercharger, allocate your intake $ towards an 87mm pulley and an OTT custom tune.

Your the second one to say that, the first was my last mechanic that installed my suspension, at the start of this build. The next big hurdle is the extractor pipes before the y pipe and whether to have a custom set made or not, nobody tends to sell an upgraded version or a version without the cats. Thanks for your input anyways, I appreciate your time.

Well it's getting the custom tune right after the borla y pipe and exhaust are installed on monday, I have heard about the pulleys haven't began the research yet though. I appreciate your input and your link, I will go check it out, thank you for your time.

Yes it is one of my questions I'm trying to figure out, the stock box is just so boring, I think I'll purchase the trd one from Toyota it's much nicer to look at. And thank you, this truck is breaking 100k for cost of purchase plus upgrades, but it's worth it as it makes me happy, and finishes the build me and my grandfather started in September 2021, before he passed. He is the one who got me into toyotas and overlanding, a veteran, a police officer, and an engineer a great man. Thanks for your input I appreciate your time.

I run the TRD airbox on mine with a drop in high flow filter. The stock airbox is not a restriction. My truck is making close to 400whp. I had bought an Injen intake and it isnt anywhere close to fitting and I didnt feel like cutting it up so I just stuck with the stock TRD box. Definitely get a smaller pulley for the supercharger before tuning. Its a cheap extra 20hp.

Op.. Don’t change out your stock air box, keep it. I’d suggest doing SABM! And a AFE dry air filter and losing the charcoal filter. SABM is stock air box mod which consists of 2 3” flanges, one for your air box and one for your fenderwell. 2” length of 3” ID silicone pipe. And a 3” hole saw for cutting a hole in your air box and fender well, 2 3” hose clamps. Much better than any cai!
