a different design from the ones you recently offered?

i skipped the discos and just got the plain links from you. they are installing in two weeks. really looking forward. everything on my front end is dialed in, but after redoing my lift recently i am still on the OE links. yuck!

I am sure that there is a good sway bar disconnect design out there, but I have not see one that looked reliable long term for our particular setup. That doesn't mean that it can't be done or that I have seen all the designs. There was just nothing the clicked like your QD Links.

If I wanted to keep a SB for on road, my approach would be to swap your QD Links in for a wheeling trip then go back to solid for the rest of the time. Four bolts, pretty easy.

I was on I-4 last week running about 80 MPH, and had to swerve to miss something in the road. There was serious puckering going on.

Only off roading I do is the beach, and they have a very strict 10 MPH speed limit. I'd like to find a way to tighten up my suspension.

My Tacoma still handles better on the road than my 2000 TJ.

With a swaybar on, is it really IFS?

That's the big deal right there, a highspeed emergency lane change sans swaybar. There's a good reason why some people install a Hellwig on the rear for those situations.

A good test is at 50mph, sans swaybar, whack the truck HARD into the next lane, then try to stabilize it.

I've removed the swaybars on the various vehicles, but beefed up the springs/shocks to compensate.

Thread revival, pulled my sway bar off and truck feels a lot better on the trail. Washboards don't rattle my cab and no longer need to slow down for potholes/ruts since the truck stays more level and both front tires are working independently. However I am having an issue with rear traction, on the street if I turn at an intersection I will spin the back tires. I know this because I am getting the yellow TC light on the dash every time I turn. I am unsure if this is due to the increased body roll and one of the rear tires is lifting off the ground or something? Worth noting I have a 3" lift all around with Bilstein 6112/5160 on 315/70R17 tires and ICON RXT rear leafs in the rear on option #1. I wonder if I stiffen up the leafs in the rear by adding the extra leaf perhaps it will remedy this issue? Threw the sway bar back on and the traction issue no longer exists so the only variable is the sway bar delete.

You are right on target. The remedy is opposite though. You increase stiffness on the opposite end that you want traction. So, adding leafs will not help.

My setup is a bit different (5100s / 5125s, RXT Option 1, BAMF hangers, and no SB). I get the TCS light only on harder corners and just live with it.

You are not three wheeling it, just lightening the load enough for it to break free a bit. That is the beauty of having options though. Go with what works best.

Not for 3rd gen. All the trim levels have the same 1.18" (30mm) sway bar diameter: https://toyota-cms-media.s3.amazona...023_Toyota_Tacoma_Product_Information-1-1.pdf

    upload_2023-4-19_1-19-45.jpg

2nd gen OR had a very slightly smaller 1.10" (28mm) sway bar. Moment of area is a 4th order formula, so 6.8% smaller diameter means 24% softer bar.

Negative ghost rider, the Off-Road does have a smaller sway bar. I was going to replace my bushings and got the 30mm that the forum suggested. They were too big. Had to return and get smaller ones. The 28mm fits the OR.
