Oh man I ran a 10k this morning then spent 4 hours running a chainsaw. I’m not going to be able to get out of bed tomorrow. My legs and arms are toast!

Got one of my trees cut up though!

Plunge cut! Need a bigger saw though, this 20” bar isn’t cutting it.

    Need some local trail advice.

I've always wanted to try to see if I can get from Arnold (HWY 4) to Sonora (HWY 108). It looks like theres a forest route 5N02 out of Dorrington that drops you out near Strawberry.
Anyone have experience with that route recently? Thinking of trying it on memorial day weekend.

I did that (Hell's Half Acre Road?) in the other direction with @El Taco Diablo and some others a few years ago, going from Sourgrass to Niagara Rim. As I remember it, most of it was a 40-ish foot wide logging road, and it wasn't particularly scenic, with lots of past fire damage. Almost everything between Sourgrass and Beardsley Reservoir was locked by Sierra Pacific.

I remember that trip. That was the Birthday trip for me and @Motofox

The locked gates were the ones we encountered the day prior to doing Sourgrass. That was the SPI land that is on the the other side of 4. We came down Corral Hollow, then Bailey Ridge and hit the locked gates that evening trying to make it to camp on the South Fork Mokelumne.

The next day we did Sourgrass and then went out 5N02. It was basically a fire road till we got next to the canyon below Beardsley Dam. Then it's that single lane asphalt.

5N02 is not Hells Half Acre road. 5N02 comes out over Beardsley dam (below the reservoir). Hells Half acre crosses the Middle Fork Stanislaus (inlet to Beardsley) ABOVE Beardsley reservior. Hells Hallf acre road is 5N95. I've never been that way, but have been curious about that route.

    FYI -

Some of these roads may be open now. But they still haven't updated the Forest Order / Road Closures, and it runs through 5/31.

5N02 is on that order, most of it is closed on the 4 side of Beardsley. You can't get to 5N95 due to the other closed roads locking it in.

    Thank you @El Taco Diablo.

This is seemingly the story of my life. Either I want to get started too early .... snow issues and roads are still closed, or I get started too late and fires and smoke are abundant.

    Some day! :fingerscrossed:

AWE Exhaust, KARTBOY exhaust hangers, custom 1/0 exhaust grounding, lots of Titanium hardware from my old builds, silly JDM bits from my old Subaru builds, Uniden Bearcat Off Road CB, Firestik 2 w/custom CF mount, custom KARTBOY plate frame with Rigid Ind Spot on ball head mount, Yakima Mega Warrior w/custom CF cross brace. ARP extended studs (not installed yet), Optima Red Top, Siless Insulation in cab. Diode Dynamics LEDs throughout... More titanium fasteners. K&N intake snorkus delete. Greddy hose clamps throughout. DBA 4000XS Brake Rotors. TRD PRO fogs. Dakine Tail Gate Pad. More to come of course.
Was looking for a good local thread and found this one. Lots of good chats on here. Old Subaru/SRT guy. Just bought a Tacoma because I've had too many close encounters with God in the fast cars. Needed to slow down...alot. Plus, I was using my STI as a pick up truck. That being said, I'm loving the truck after 20k and the mod bug bit even though I know better. I started a "build" thread but, the truck is too stock to be interesting yet so I just post in the "What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen" when I do stuff. I got a buddy who is tight with Apache Off Road does alot of 4 Runner / Land Cruiser builds for people. He is bugging me hard to get the truck semi-trail ready so I can start adding "pin stripes". For now, I am looking at checking out Corral Hollow Trail? I guess it is North of Angel's Camp a bit. Gonna' wait until the Fall though. This weather is garbage for anything outdoors. Looking forward to meeting folks...etc. I've got a huge pile of parts in the garage for install. Just zero time. So it'll be a slow going "build" and probably nothing in comaprison to some of the vehicles I've seen on here. Sheesh. Some killer rigs out there.
Oh, I'm in Tracy...the Gateway to Hell currently. haha

Right on bud! Glad you posted in here, and glad to meet you.

Funny I was thinking about it this weekend, that this thread had really died out over the last couple years. A few of the guys who used to post a lot gave gone on to other things... Jeeps... life being busy... etc. They don't post much on TW at all, really, any more. As far as actual 209 guys... I know @nDub @Blue Canary are still around. @Pickeledpigsfeet still lurks around here from time to time. Some of the others may be around but don't post much.

We've got some 408/925 guys around, that are super good guys. @essjay @Impoy47 @rob1208 @CrashN'Burn... 916 guys like @Speedo and others... 559 guys like @Kwikvette and others that hang around with us.

Was thinking I'd like to try and revive the local scene here, and also get back to having some Mod Days again, to get people together. (Of course that will require me to get off my ass and do something with the garage... and also require the weather to not be 200°).

Look forward to seeing you around, maybe see you out in the woods
    You too @Landroamr
