Lots of sleeping pills on the plane then liberal amounts of coke when there. So much to see, so little time.

Sorry to be a bit late with my thoughts, but I'm an early riser (5:30 AM for work) so I always try to be in bed by 9:30 PM [eastern].

My ex and I flew to London in March 2014 for 10 days. We were living in New York at the time, so we flew from JFK, 7 hour flight. I'd expect it's 9+ hours from DFW when I'm guessing you'd fly from? Anyway, we flew an overnight flight, landed at Heathrow at around Noon GMT, went to our hotel, freshened up a bit and went right out to see a little bit of London and went to dinner at the original Hard Rock. Then went to bed early (something like 8PM?). I was 47 at the time, but as I had slept a decent amount on the plane, I didn't have jet lag. We didn't drive, we took London taxi's everywhere (we would have walked / taken the Tube, but I was still pre-surgery for my hip resurfacing (osteoarthritis), so that wasn't the best option for me at that time).

Everyone is different, but that was how I did it.

Way back in 2004, I flew to Bangalore, India for a week for work. I flew out of San Francisco to Frankfurt, Germany (11 hours), 1 hour layover, then down to Bangalore (10 hours). In April, India is 12 1/2 hours ahead of California. We left SFO at 2:30 PM on a Friday afternoon, landed in Bangalore at something line 1:00 AM Sunday morning [local time]. Despite having been in the air for 21 hours, my brain said "we left in the afternoon, flew a while, now it's middle of the night. That seems just about right", so I never had any jet lag during that trip either.

Good info for sure. Thank you.

So yes I would be flying out of Dallas but originally from San Antonio which is only an hour flight but still adds a couple of hours travel time. Traditionally I haven't been able to sleep on planes but as I age.... :anonymous: I was going to rent a car as I also want to go up to Manchester area for a few days. Want to see some castles and stuff like Dover and all those sites are pretty spread out.

We went through the "chunnel" to Paris for one day, and took a bus tour to the western side to Bath & Stonehenge, but spent the rest of our time in London itself. I'm a Freemason, and the very first ever established Grand Lodge of Masons was in England ]London] in 1717, so one of the days was spent touring Freemason's Hall (the Grand Lodge building), I even got to attend a meeting of one of their Lodges that meets in Freemason's Hall, which was a huge bonus for the trip.
