So does anyone shop in AZ make a decent swing out bumper? Recently went up on tire size and need to carry full size spare along with me. Thanks in advance.

Idk about shops but I hear @snowsk8air2 is a great fabricator. There’s @Yacob_D, @KingOfTheNorth, myself and a few others that know their way around welders and steel

What size tires you running? 33’s/285’s fit under the bed still pretty easily. Seen a few guys fit 35’s under there with a little persuasion.

Unless it’s 37”+ then it will fit. Now if your just looking for an excuse for a new bumper, we can support that.

Like the other guys said, if you just want a bumper then yeah, get one. Otherwise up to a 35 can be made to fit in the stock location with minimal modifications.

I guess I'm being lazy by not searching this but... what mods get a 35 under the bed? I have a 33 under there right now pushed all the way back against the tow hitch and I'm pretty sure I do not have two inches of clearance between the tire and the diff. Maybe if I took the factory hitch out and got an aftermarket rear bumper with a receiver built in (but at that point I'd be pretty tempted to just do a tire carrier bumper).

2nd gen and 3rd gen might be slightly different but you only need 1 inch of extra room all the way around not two. There are a ton of write ups about this. There are tabs hanging off the frame that are 2-3" long, they are meant to keep the stock size spare in place, you have to beat them flat or at least out of the way and then you remove the hoist, drill new holes for it farther towards the rear of the truck and then bolt it back in place. You might have to run the tire at 10-15psi depending on the tire but you should have a compressor in your truck at all times so that shouldnt be an issue. Here is a write up for relocating the hoist. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...to-new-adventures.528480/page-5#post-17311994

Chop the exhaust after the axle. That’s about the only extra thing you need to do if you already have a 33” tire under there. It will rub your diff a bit but that’s life. If you have stock rear hangers, more room and less likely to rub the diff.

Free.99. Last chance as they are headed to the recycler tomorrow. Great for a trailer build.

Are you planning on towing with it? I have an extra falcon tow bar and maybe a braking system.

Not for this trip. In the future, maybe. They only rate these things at 5000lbs towing capacity which is kinda ridiculous. Id love to pull my K5 on a trailer behind it in the future to hit Moab and other fun places but that might be a pipe dream.

I am still debating on which route to go with the rear bumper for the 4runner. Do I really want to weld another together or just spend the money on one that is all done.

I was in the same boat with my rear bumper. I did the best of both and went with the Coastal Offroad like your wife has now. They designed it and I burned it together.

I like the look of that one as well. Does it call for a relocation or you just moving and upgrading?

It is designed around a f150 tank to be added and relocated to where the spare tire goes. So get to add like a extra 5 gallons. I do like the more added armor around the bottom.

That's what caught my eye, similar to the Coastal with the 3/16" wrap under.
The added fuel would be helpful but not the weight.
