My bed is off for a couple weeks while I get my brake lines replaced and the frame patched up. During this time I’m going to try and tackle as many things I can that make sense. I’m thinking about replacing the fuel pump as that seems fairly straightforward and I’m sure I’m still in the original at 180k.

My question to everyone is, is there anything else I can do while I’m in this position?

I installed new OME suspension last summer so no need to go that route.

if your planning on weight or wheeling box the frame. If your a short bed you will have to drop the tank. if its a long bed then def a fuel pump is easy enough. Besides that its a good chance to get all the rest off the frame and paint and prep it. No better time then while the bed is off to do that. Boxing the frame is not required but if its a heavy truck or you plan to update suspension more and wheel harder now is the time to tackle it.

idk I’ll ever do heavy wheeling just light trails and what-not. I did think about boxing it. So I guess I’ll think more on that. It’s an xtracab 2.7l standard.

I am also pulling my bed this (early) summer. Since my frame was replaced in 2016, I want to tackle the rust on the underside of the bed (long-bed). Also need to do the brakes on the back, but the brake lines were replaced with the frame so those should be good. Fuel pump sounds like a sound replacement (original with 168k).

Ha no trailer just a lot of crap, steel, big heavy tires, s/c. I’ll get mid 13’s on a good day long distance it’s not winning any MPG races. I mind as well pull a heavy trailer. Fully loaded it can get up to 7k and the mpgs def suffer.
