Hi guys, I just installed some new shocks on my rear and want to add a 1” lift block in between the axle and leaf springs but for some reason that do not want to separate when I lower the axle from the springs. Anyone know why this is. From what I’ve seen it normally comes loose right away. Any tips

A few pics would help. Some of the axle and spring and some of the lift points.

Do you have an AAL or leaf pack already? Shock too short, supporting the axle, not allowing it to drop?
Try unbolting the bottom of the shock...:notsure:

Like @splitbolt said, you will need to disconnect the lower shock mount at the very least to give the axle enough room to droop so that the leaf pack with separate from the spring perch. Assuming you have already removed the U-bolts.

    A few.
Remove lower shock bolt and u bolts on one side of the axle and then lower the jack that was under the axle. Wheels should be off already also to give u the room to lower axle

@jlemmond i removed the u bolts and the bottom of the shock from one side but it still wouldn’t budge. Do you think it is because I didn’t remove both driver and passenger side?

You should be able to do one side at a time. Might be helpful to unbolt the other side as well. Two jackstands on the framerails forward of the axle. Floor jack under the diff and let it come down. It should separate. If it doesn't try a couple taps with a 3lbs hammer.

just be sure, when you are trying beat, drag, or muscle the axle down. Since you removed the shocks, the axle will now be able to move past the length of parking brake cables, wires, etc. So put a jack, jack stand, something under the axle so it can only drop an inch or two.

One of mine was cemented on by gunk so I used another jack and *gently* eased the leafs up a bit until I could slide the block in.

Did you support the opposite side axle near the wheel with a jackstand? Doing so allows the side you are working to drop further.
